1 Holodomor Memorial Day Saturday, November 28, 2015 At City Hall 1:30-4:00 pm The Holodomor is the name given to the genocide by famine that occurred in Ukraine from 1932 to As many as 10 million Ukrainians perished as victims of a man-made famine under Joseph Stalin s regime, with 25,000 dying each day at the peak of the famine. The name Holodomor is the Ukrainian word for "plague of hunger" or death inflicted by starvation derived from two words, holod starvation/ famine and moryty to inflict death. Let us remember that this year Ukraine and the world will commemorate the 80th anniversary of the memory of the victims of the Holodmor - Genocide of This tragic page remains an unhealed wound in the history of our people. The memory of millions of lost lives, the pain of hundreds of thousands of families, unites most of the citizens of Ukraine, who always on the fourth Saturday of November light a candle of remembrance and go to the memorial places in Kyiv and in their cities and villages. This memory actively contributes to social peace and understanding among people, united by a shared pain about the past and a hope for the future. Over 40 instructors from Kyiv and the Kyiv oblast (province) were trained; they will now train patrol police officers throughout Ukraine. Ambassador Waschuk stated, "This is the first such training, but not the last. The patrol police is a successful project. For this reason, [training programs] will continue, so that Ukrainian police will have the opportunity to gain the methodological experience that the Canadian police has," Ukraine's Ministry of Internal Affairs stated. On Saturday 6 November the Holy Father appointed: Bishop Eugeniusz Miroslaw Popowicz (Євген Попович) as archbishop of the Archeparchy of Przemysl-Warszawa in Poland. (Catholics 30,000, priests 47, religious 97), Most Reverend Popowicz is currently Auxiliary Bishop of the same Archeparchy. He succeeds Archbishop Jan Martyniak (Іван Мартиняк) whose resignation from the pastoral care of the same Archeparchy upon reaching the age limit was accepted by the Holy Father. Metropolitan Lawrence sent greetings to both Bishops on behalf of the clergy and all the faithful of our Archeparchy of Winnipeg (which btw is the oldest Metropolitan See outside of Ukraine) ~Chancery Liturgies for 2016 The new calendar for scheduling Liturgies for 2016 is now available for intentions.. If you would like to schedule liturgies for the upcoming year, please contact the Parish Office or drop your intentions in the collection basket during the Liturgies. As a reminder, please be mindful that scheduling of Liturgies is done on a firstcome, first-served basis. Even though, when Liturgies are scheduled, certain events or circumstances may come up that will require a change of dates and times. Please check the Liturgy as posted in the Sunday Bulletin.

6 - Report from October Perogy Sales Thank you to all our volunteers who helped with perogy making and with the Perogy Supper. It was heartwarming to have so many of our parisjioners who came to help. Also, thank you to those who donated pies. Our gross income was $4,301.05; our average expense varies from $600 to $700 per month. Our next perogy supper is November 27th. Perogy Peeling: Sunday, Nov 22nd after 9:00 am Divine Liturgy Making Potato Balls: Tuesday, Nov 24th Pinching and Packing, Wednesday, Nov 25 We hope to have the same turn out of volunteers as we did in October.
