3 The Celebration of the Sacraments Baptism Baptisms are normally celebrated at 2:00PM on scheduled Sundays in a month. Please call the Parish office to arrange for a meeting with a Parish Priest and to register for the baptismal class which is normally held on the 4 th Monday of each month at 7:30PM. Marriage Couples should make an appointment with a Priest at least eight months prior to the wedding. A Marriage Preparation Program is required. Anointing of the Sick Anyone seriously ill, elderly, or prior to an operation should be anointed with the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick. Please speak with one of the Priests to make the arrangements. Communion for the Homebound Anyone who cannot attend Mass due to illness or age may receive Communion at home. Please call the Rectory office to make arrangements. Reconciliation (Confession) Every Saturday and Eve of Holy Days from 4:00PM to 4:45PM in the Church and on the Thursday before the First Friday of every month after the 9:00AM Mass. Individual confessions may be arranged by calling the Rectory office. Interested in becoming a Catholic or completing your Sacraments? The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) is the process by which adults are brought into the Catholic Church. They came to Philip and asked him, Sir, we would like to see Jesus. It has begun. News of Jesus has spread beyond native-born, Aramaic-speaking Jews. We don t know if the Greeks mentioned here heard of Jesus from fellow travelers or if news of this intriguing rabbi had reached all the way to their home. What we do know is that this interaction spurred an interesting comment from Jesus: The hour has come for the Son of Man to be glorified. In other words, it has begun. The time has come for the message to move beyond the geographic bounds of Israel. But what does this message require? The Gospel is clear: He said this indicating the kind of death He would die. A grain of wheat falls to the ground and dies to its life as only a seed. A caterpillar takes on the appearance of temporary death in order to transform into a butterfly. In the Gospels, sacrifice and death are a way of becoming something more than you were before. This Lent, new life can come from our sacrifices. When we enter into the season with Jesus, our difficulties can transform our perspective. Unless a grain of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains just a grain of wheat; but if it dies, it produces much fruit. As we abstain from meat and fast from eating between meals, we can grow in compassion for the hungry. We can give alms of our time, sacrificially spending time with the lonely, the sick, and the marginalized. Our little Lenten deaths death to unnecessary preferences, death to selfish living, death to ignorance of other s pain can bring new life to the world long after the season is over. This is the invitation this Sunday and every Lenten season, to begin anew from death to life. -4-

Amen St. Anthony s Holy Hour is held from 1pm until 2pm on Wednesdays on a regular weekly basis. It begins with Exposition of the monstrance at 1pm & concludes at 2pm following Benediction. The service includes hymns (O Salutaris, Tantum Ergo), Scripture reading, preaching, and silent prayer. Draw Me Unto Thee Tuesdays during Lent at 10 AM Lent: with God s grace, we have an opportunity to witness and share our most authentic selves during this hour of prayer. The St. Baldrick's head-shaving event at Miller's Long Island Ale House on Sunday March 11th was a huge success thanks to donations from K of C members, parishioners, friends & family! The Fr. Thomas A. Judge K of C team (see photos) surpassed its goal of $6,500 and donations are still pouring in!. Following the BIG event shavees Rich Fitzgerald, Bob Dabkowski and Bob Slingo went to Manny's Barber Shop for a razor shave by barbers George, Lena & Jerry for an extra donation from Fr.
