If you find yourself unable to attend Mass and want to receive Communion, either you or an immediate family member may call the office to make the necessary arrangements. Anointing of the Sick: Anyone in danger of death from a serious illness, an emergency situation or from advanced age ought to receive the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick. If you know, in advance, that you will be entering the hospital for a procedure, it is preferred that you receive the Anointing prior to entering the hospital. We must hear from you or a family member if you would like to be visited by someone. Please call the office with the necessary information and our pastor will be alerted. ASSISTANCE MINISTRY If you or someone you know needs meals provided or transportation to and from doctor appointments or therapy appointments please call Donna Cone at or the Parish Office at to arrange for assistance. We are looking for volunteers to join us as Lectors & Extraordinary Ministers We (Father Bob and Dick Obermeyer) will be conducting our annual training on Wednesday, May 16, after the 9:00AM Mass for approximately one hour. If that is not convenient, we will also offer it at 7:00PM that evening. You only need to attend one session. All current and Want-To-Bes must attend. 4 Pope Francis has added a new liturgical Marian Feast Day, that of Mary, Mother of the Church. In honor of the new liturgical Marian Feast Day, The Diocesan Shrine of Our Lady of Joyful Hope-Our Lady of South Carolina invites you to a Marian Eucharistic Celebration, Sunday, May 20, 2018; hosted by Williamsburg Funeral Home, 332 E. But before we can really appreciate this holy and sacred meal, we need to study the menu. And our Lord could ve just gone straight away into the breaking of the bread, but instead he stopped long enough to open up the Law and prophets and to make all of these things understandable by showing how they relate to him. St. Clement MONTH OF OUR LADY In addition to the myriad feast days honoring Our Lady under her many titles and virtues, the entire month of May is especially given to her praise. In the words of Pope Paul VI, May is "a month which the piety of the faithful has long dedicated to Mary, the Mother of God... For this is the month during which Christians, in their churches and their homes, offer the Virgin Mother more fervent and loving acts of homage and veneration; and it is the month in which a greater abundance of God's merciful gifts comes down to us from our Mother's throne." O Jesus, through the Immaculate Heart of Mary, I offer you my prayers, works, joys, and sufferings of this day for all the intentions of your Sacred Heart, in union with the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass throughout the world, for the salvation of souls, the reparation of sins, the reunion of all Christians, and in particular for the intentions of the Holy Father this month. Amen.

5 Thanks to all who came out for Praise in the Park 2018 Good Shepherd was well represented, with good leadership. Thank you to Ginny Vose, the Gospel Quartet and our duly-selected speaker (as Fr. Bob was under the weather) Paul Aube did a wonderful welcome announcement to all the people about the Gospel of the day Jn 15: 9-17) Jesus said to his disciples: "As the Father loves me, so I also love you. Remain in my love. If you keep my commandments, you will remain in my love, just as I have kept my Father's commandments and remain in his love. "I have told you this, so that my joy may be in you and your joy might be complete. This is my commandment: love one another as I love you. No one has greater love than this: to lay down one's life for one's friends. 5 Our final stop was on the rail road tracks at the crossing a place where the cross ties held the rails as the people all held hands and prayed with the wooden cross representing the Risen Christ holding us all together. We returned to the park to have water served, and entertainment, and prayer, and joy abounding. Thank you to a large turnout of Good Shepherd Parishioners (Over 2 dozen) The McCormick County Ministerial Alliance decided we will meet each year to Praise Our Father, The Risen Christ, and the Holy Spirit each year on the First Sunday of May with this event called Praise in the Park. We all processed with banners from local churches around the town of McCormick with a large wooden cross carried by local celebrants leading the way. Each Stop along the way a local Pastor would pray for: 1 - Our first stop was at the Town Hall to pray for all civic leadership 2 - The second stop was at the corner of Main Street in the Heart of Businesses to pray for the success of all businesses and their owners. 3 As we continued in our procession, with all the people and banners, we Prayed on the steps of the First Baptist Church for unity and an ever- deepening love for Our Lord God in all our local churches. 4 We then stopped across from the United Methodist church where we could see beyond to the library and the park where we prayed for the safety and loving support of all our children.
