Active Seniors Group Join the Active Seniors group for a lunch and show outing on Sunday, July 15, The group will first gather at the Lamplighter at 12:00 noon for lunch, individuals will pay for lunch separately. The group will then enjoy the musical Grease at Apple Hill Playhouse at 2 PM. Tickets are $20.00 and each member will pay separately at the playhouse. 2 Why we hide... A psychologist explained something fascinating about shame: No one can put it inside us without our consent. Shame doesn t enter from the outside but responds from the inside. Those seeking to embarrass us are frustrated if we refuse their attempt to impart shame with the slap of a hand or a word. If we accept shame, it s because deep down we re already carrying it. So Adam, guilty of disloyalty to God, is shamed by his newfound nakedness. Yet Jesus, insulted, beaten, stripped, and humiliated, remains clothed in honor at the cross. Got shame? With many of our altar servers graduating from high school, our parish really needs your help at all weekend Masses except 9 AM. Thorough training will be provided and shadowing a current altar server can be provided if requested. Summer collections often drop in our parish because of vacation travel, sports schedules and other activities. Summer vacation time is also a good time to try Online Giving. You can set it up before you leave or do it while you are away. Go to our website and look for the Online Giving logo on the right-hand side of the page to get started. Just click the link... it s easy and you are supporting your church while you are away. There is also an Online Giving app for your smart phone! Maybe you need to attend Mass at another parish because of time restrictions. Did you know that you can drop your Cathedral envelope in the basket at one of our other local churches? That church will simply send your envelope to us by the end of the week. We send envelopes to the churches of those visiting the Cathedral every week. Our SVdP Conference will once again be participating in a Community supported Back to School bash this coming August. This event served nearly 400 youth returning to school last year by providing free dental exams, haircuts, book bags and other essential items. As part of our support, our conference provided a Payless shoe voucher to each school age child. This year we would also like to extend our contribution to the need for underwear and socks. SVdP will be accepting new packages of underwear and socks for children ages 4 through 18, during the weekend of June 16 and June 17. Someone will be in the vestibule to accept your donations during the Saturday evening and Sunday Masses What a nice way to honor your dad on Father s Day by donating socks/underwear for kids in need. St. John s Fire celebration at Diocese Heritage Center The Diocesan Heritage Center and Knights of Malta will host a St. John s Fire Celebration June 24, the Solemnity of the Nativity of St. John the Baptist, at the Bishop Connare Center at 7 PM.
