By the Holy Spirit, I am made one with the Lord Jesus Christ. I am baptized into Christ s body, the church, along with all others who confess him by faith. 10 - MUSIC NOTES BY REBECCA TE VELDE - Prelude: Italian composer Giovanni Battista Martini ( ) was also a theorist, teacher, and Franciscan monk. This melodious set of instrumental pieces was transcribed for organ by American organist and composer Dale Wood. 11:00 Offertory (8:30 communion): In painting this text in music, Groom ( ) places the melodic ideas both high and low (God s greatness is revealed everywhere and cannot be confined) and ends with an inconclusive chord. Postlude: Benedetto Marcello ( ) led a multi-faceted life as a musician/ composer, lawyer, and public servant. He composed church music, oratorio and opera as well as instrumental pieces. This is a transcription for organ of his choral setting of Psalm 19. New Adult Weekday Classes begin in September Marriage Matters, a 5-week series, led by Pastor Leah Hrachovec will meet Wednesdays from 6:30-7:30 p.m., September 23 through October 21, in the Fellowship Hall. Childcare will be provided. Conversation topics will include the impact of recent decisions by the U.S. Supreme Court regarding same-sex marriage, actions by the General Assembly and the presbyteries of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.), how great shifts in Presbyterian understanding and social witness have come about in the past, and how we may continue to discern (and even disagree) with one another in love. Discussions about marriage, a subject that matters deeply to each of us, should be Spirit-led and respectful. Please note the change in the class start and ending times. Smart Money Smart Kids led by Lee Scoggins. This class is part of Dave Ramsey s series on money management within a Christian perspective designed for parents with children in the home. It will meet on Thursdays from 6:00-7:30 p.m. September 24 through October 29 in the Youth Suite (2 nd floor, north end, main building).
