3 RITE OF CHRISTIAN INITIATION OF ADULTS We are starting to anticipate the beginning of the R.C.I.A. sessions in October for those adults who would like to become Catholic. This is how someone becomes a Catholic. The R.C.I.A. process program is for: A non-baptized adult who is interested in the possibility of becoming Roman Catholic; An adult baptized in a Protestant tradition who wants to know more about Roman Catholicism and is considering becoming a Catholic; A baptized adult who has not had much Catholic education/formation and who would like to complete the Sacraments of Initiation (Confirmation and Eucharist). Saturdays at 8:30pm at Cork and Kerry DOMESTIC VIOLENCE OUTREACH COMMITTEE Father Ken invites all St. John Fisher parishioners to join him on Monday, October 8th at 7:00pm at a Prayer Service on behalf of Victims of Domestic Violence and their Families. This prayer service is sponsored by the St. John Fisher, St. Christina and St. Cajetan Committees Against Domestic Violence and will be held at St. Christina Church (3334 West 111th Street in Chicago. RESPECT LIFE BABY BOTTLE PROJECT BEGINS THIS WEEKEND! October 7ths is Respect Life Sunday. On that weekend, our parish will once again participate in the Baby Bottle Project which benefits The Women s Center of Greater Chicagoland. This non-profit organization directly assists mothers and families experiencing crisis pregnancies by offering free services which include emotional, financial, material and spiritual support as well as counseling, pregnancy testing, ultrasounds, material and monetary provisions, prayer and other aid. By God s grace, The Women s Center have saved over 34,000 babies and their parents from abortion since opening in It s as easy as 1,2, 3. 1.) Please take a baby bottle home with you after Mass on the weekend of October 6/7. 2. Fill it with your spare change. 3.) Return your bottle to church on the weekend of October 20/21. Please remember to bring a donation of a non-perishable food item to any of the weekend Masses on October 13th or 14th to help restock their shelves. St. John Fisher Class of th Reunion December 1, 2018 Ridge Country Club KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS RAFFLE FOR SEMINARIANS On the weekend of October 13-14, the Knights of Columbus, Father Perez Council # 1444 will be selling raffle tickets at St. John Fisher parish to help support local seminarians. Last year sufficient monies were raised to fund six seminarians. This year, with your help, the Council hopes to raise enough money to support ten seminarians. A book of chances sell for $15.00 or one dollar per chance. Drawing will be held on December 1, Twenty prizes will be awarded with the top prize being $10, Checks will be awarded within eight weeks of the drawing. Bring your envelope return address labels to help speed up the process. Thank you for your support. ALUMNI NEWS Congratulations to St. John Fisher parishioner and alumna Hannah Brennan. Hannah, a member of the Class of 19 at Mother McAuley High School was recently selected by her peers as this year s recipient of the prestigious Catherine McAuley Award in recognition of her being a leader among her peers at Mother McAuley. FAMILY ROSARY I am Our Lady of the Rosary. Continue to say the Rosary every day - - Our Lady of Fatima, October 13, Come join us immediately after the 10:00am Mass, October 14, 2018 by the tabernacle to say the rosary as our Blessed Mother asked us to do daily. Many saints and feasts related to the Rosary are this month including the remembrance of the last apparition at Fatima 101 years ago (October 13, 1917), and the feast of Our Lady of the Rosary (October 7th) commemorating Our Lady s help in protecting a very small Armada against the Ottoman Empire fleet, through praying the Rosary.
