A form of bodily prayer, fasting and abstinence in union with other Christians reminds us of our utter dependence on and love for God. A gesture of repentance, fasting is symbolic of a change of heart as we turn away from sin and live in fidelity to the Gospel. REGULATIONS: Fasting: Ages fast on Ash Wednesday and Good Friday limiting themselves to one full meal and two smaller meals each day. No snacking between meals ABSTINENCE. Catholics age 14 and older abstain from meat on Ash Wednesday, Good Friday and all the Fridays of Lent. 4th-8th grade Youth Group/Religious Ed Program will be starting a religious education program for the 4th-8th graders of our Parish. This age group so far has been neglected. Please pray about and consider if you could help be a Catechist. Ours are very old and no longer meet that requirement. Thank you BAPTISMAL PREPARATION CLASS Saturday, March 9th Our baptismal classes are held on the second Saturday of the month at 9:00am at Church, Eagle. Parents and Godparents are required to attend a baptismal preparation class. Pre-registration is required, contact Tania Terrazas at x107 to register. Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, Eagle Mondays at from 5:30 to 6:30 pm This is a powerful prayer opportunity and when a priest is with us, we also have Benediction or a blessing with the Blessed Sacrament, and Confession is available. Come and stay as long as you can. Men gather on the second Saturday of each month after the 7:00 p.m. Mass. Black and Indian Mission Collection Next Sunday we will be asked to participate in the Black and Indian Mission Collection. Together we build up the Church and announce the Good News of Jesus Christ. Please make a sacrificial gift to the 2019 Black and Indian Mission Collection. More information is available at Speak Out Against House Bill 1032 Archbishop Aquila recently asked Catholics to speak out against House Bill 1032, a problematic bill that would require public and charter schools to either adopt a so-called comprehensive sex-ed curriculum, or to provide no instruction on sexuality at all. Almost 400 people showed up to the House Committee hearing for the bill last Wednesday and made their objections known about this troubling legislation. It was great to see concerned Catholics accurately identify that turning sex education over to a state intent on cultural engineering is not good for our young people.
