Fun Service Opportunity for Adults Bring enjoyment to area seniors by occasionally joining an informal Bible study at Castle Peak Senior Life and Rehabilitation in Eagle. We meet on Wednesdays at 1:00 PM in room A109 beginning Nov. 7 th. Come once or every week to share in learning about our Gospel readings while befriending residents in assisted living, rehab, etc. For more info on this new Catholic outreach, call Sue Baker at Gregorian Chant Appreciation Group The purpose would be to learn, admire, and participate in one of the great musical traditions of the Catholic Church. Each meeting would consist of looking at and singing a small selection of chant while engaging with what makes chant different from other musical forms. Snacks and drinks would follow which I will supply. The estimated time would be minutes a meeting. Meetings would be held at 7:00pm on the last Wednesday of every month at 62 Old County Lane, Edwards. If you are interested, please contact me via at stephen.lajoie@gmail.com or speak to me in person. Feast of the Holy Family This is a painful feast for so many Catholics, I think. How many of us have the kind of holy family we imagined existed a few decades ago (but never really did, in some ways)? That holy family included mom, dad, at least a few kids, and, oh yes, everyone was happily in church on Sunday. The kids went on to marry other Catholics, and those families bore children who were contentedly growing up in the faith. Somehow we thought that model whether it was actually working or not would weather all the cultural upheavals of our lifetimes. It didn t, of course. Is there a reader today who can say that his/her family has followed this path perfectly? I know a parish that can break your heart. The scattering of adults who make up the early morning Sunday congregation are as devout and educated as any community you could find. The choir has sung together, consistently, since the sixties. They are wonderful lectors and religious educators. They ve graduated from the Catholic Biblical School and Catechetical School. They ve maintained prayerful and loving, lifelong marriages. And yet there isn t a family that doesn t have an adult child on the street, lost amid the homeless population, due to the scourge of drugs and alcohol. Suicide is at least a monthly event there. Grandparents weep for their unbaptized grandchildren, whom they are raising because their own children are lost. These are extreme examples of the pain that some Catholic families experience, of course. The challenge for the average Catholic family is to trust that God is living and active in the lives of all our loved ones, despite how active their faith lives may be. Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, Eagle Mondays at from 5:30 to 6:30 pm This is a powerful prayer opportunity and when a priest is with us, we also have Benediction or a blessing with the Blessed Sacrament, and Confession is available. Come and stay as long as you can. Men gather on the second Saturday of each month after the 7:00 p.m. Mass. Baptism: Parents and Godparents are required to attend a baptismal preparation class. Classes are held on the 2nd Saturday of the month at 9:00am at Church.
