Anyone interested in learning more about what it means to become a Catholic Christian, should contact the parish office. Baptism The Sacrament of Baptism is celebrated at scheduled Liturgies. Parishioners who are expecting a child should contact the office at least two months in advance, or as soon as possible to make arrangements and meet with the Baptismal Preparation Team. Reconciliation Also known as penance or confession, the Sacrament of Penance is regularly available every Saturday at 3:30pm in the church. Individual appointments may also be made with one of the priests. The Sacrament of Penance is celebrated communally during the seasons of Advent and Lent. Marriage Engaged parishioners who are interested in being married at St. Timothy Parish must contact one of the priests at least six months in advance. Call the office regarding Marriage Preparation classes. Sacrament of the Sick Praying for healing in body, mind and soul has always been a part of the Church s ministry to those who are ill. Anyone who is seriously ill or anticipating hospitalization, may celebrate the Sacrament on Saturdays following the 9am Mass, or upon request. Devotion/Prayer Groups Rosary is said Monday through Saturday prior to morning Mass. Guild of St. Timothy The Guild normally meets the first Tuesday of the month, Oct. -May. New Jerusalem Charismatic Prayer Group meets on Thursday from 7:30-9pm. All are welcome!

These items will benefit the victims of the spring tornadoes here in Massachusetts. The parishes of St. Patrick in Monson and St. Christopher in Brimfield will distribute the items. Please see the Bulletin board in Ruocco for specifics. Pilgrimage "In the Footsteps of St. Timothy and St. Paul": Fr. Tim Hayes, Pastor of St. Timothy Church in Columbus, Ohio, & Fr. Paul Hrezo, of the Diocese of Steubenville, currently Spiritual Director at the Pontifical College Josephinum in Columbus, are offering a pilgrimage departing on October 19th for 12 days to Greece & Turkey, following the path of St. Timothy & St Paul. Ephesus, where St. Timothy served as Bishop, a cruise to the island of Patmos, where St. John composed the Book of Revelation, Rhodes & others are included among many other sites. Feast of Saint Rocco The 33rd annual St. Rocco Festival at St. Mary Parish in Franklin, corner of Queen and Pleasant Streets, will take place on August This is a North End style Italian festival with a wide selection of food; rides; midway, and entertainment. Friday, August 12 from 6-11; Saturday, August 13 from 11-11; Sunday, August 14 from noon-9:30. On Sat., August 13 at 10am there will be a Healing Mass with the Sacrament of the Sick. This Mass is held under a tent on the festival grounds. The closing Mass will be Sunday, August 14 at 10:30am in the church followed by a procession of the Statue of St. Rocco. The dinner is an opportunity to honor the many beloved priests who serve or have served in our parishes, schools, and communities throughout the Archdiocese. It also raises needed revenue for the Clergy Funds, which provide for the health, welfare, and retirement benefits of all our active and senior priests in the Archdiocese. 5 What is the Roman Missal and why is it changing? With the start of our new liturgical year in Advent of 2011, Catholics throughout the English speaking world will begin to use a new edition of the Roman Missal. This book replaces what we now call the Sacramentary, and contains all of the prayers that the priest says at Mass, including the opening and closing prayers, the Eucharistic Prayers and all of people s responses to those prayers. Printed collections of the Mass prayers have existed for centuries, but the first universal form of the Missale Romanum was issued by the Council of Trent in 1570 and was intended for use throughout the Roman Catholic world. That edition remained in use, with minor changes and additions contributed by various Popes, until the Second Vatican Council in the early 1960 s. At that point, major liturgical reforms were implemented and the first edition of the Roman Missal was promulgated to reflect these changes. As with all Church documents, it was issued first in Latin, the official language of the Church. In its effort to renew the liturgy, the bishops of the Second Vatican Council decreed that the Roman Missal should be translated into the many languages spoken around the world, so that Catholics everywhere could enter into a fuller, more active and conscious participation in the liturgy. The English edition was approved in In 2000, to celebrate the millennium, Pope John Paul II issued what is now the third edition of this Roman Missal, again in Latin, the official language of the Church. The English version of that Missal is what is now being implemented in our parishes throughout the English speaking world. Change of any kind can be difficult. In order to welcome something new, we necessarily let go of something else, often something familiar and comfortable. Hopefully, by exploring more fully what these changes are and why they are being implemented, Catholics around the world can come to a deeper and fuller understanding of the Mass and enter into a fuller more conscious participation in this great gift that Jesus himself has left to us. Over the next few months, in each week s bulletin, we will be exploring what these changes are and why they are occurring now.
