Anyone interested in learning more about what it means to become a Catholic Christian, should contact the parish office. Baptism The Sacrament of Baptism is celebrated at scheduled Liturgies. Parishioners who are expecting a child should contact the office at least two months in advance, or as soon as possible to make arrangements and meet with the Baptismal Preparation Team. Reconciliation Also known as penance or confession, the Sacrament of Penance is regularly available every Saturday at 3:30pm in the church. Individual appointments may also be made with one of the priests. The Sacrament of Penance is celebrated communally during the seasons of Advent and Lent. Marriage Engaged parishioners who are interested in being married at St. Timothy Parish must contact one of the priests at least six months in advance. Call the office regarding Marriage Preparation classes. Sacrament of the Sick Praying for healing in body, mind and soul has always been a part of the Church s ministry to those who are ill. Anyone who is seriously ill or anticipating hospitalization, may celebrate the Sacrament on Saturdays following the 9am Mass, or upon request. Devotion/Prayer Groups Rosary is said Monday through Saturday prior to morning Mass. Guild of St. Timothy The Guild normally meets the first Tuesday of the month, Oct. -May. Rosary begins at 7:30pm (Church); Program at 8pm in the Church Hall. New Jerusalem Charismatic Prayer Group meets on Thursday from 7:30-9pm. All are welcome!

All phones, etc., are recycled and proceeds are used to purchase calling cards for the soldiers. There are boxes at the entrance to the church to drop your phones in. Thank you in advance for making this a success! Youth Formation Ministry YFM Religious Education YFM Classes will not meet Sunday or next weekend in observance of the Winter vacation. Our next scheduled class is for our grade 10 students on Sunday evening, February 28. The YFM Program will host Mrs. Katie Dardis from the Archdiocese of Boston. Parents of our grade 10 students preparing for Confirmation should plan to attend this class with their son or daughter. On Thursday evening February 25, the Thursday Option Students will attend the same presentation with their parents at St. Catherine s in St. Catherine s Chapel at 7 pm. World Youth Day World Youth Day will take place in August of At this EXTRAORDINARY EVENT students will gather from all over the world to celebrate their Catholic Faith. Attendees participate in various Catechetical Sessions throughout the week while participating in a number of World Youth Day Ceremonies. The whole week culminates with Mass with the Holy Father. Plans need to be made now for students wishing to attend this very memorable event. I am looking for a team of adults who would be interested in helping to plan a pilgrimage from our parish in the summer of Please contact Frank in the YFM Office at Youth Group High school Youth Group will meet this Weds. evening at 7pm in St. Andrew s Hall on the second floor of St. Catherine s Convent. All high school students are welcome to join us. Doors open at 6pm. This meeting has been a great success with 20 to 25 students attending weekly. We are always looking for new high school members! Retreat for All Men 18+ A retreat for men 18 and older will be held on Feb. 27, 2010 at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 252 Nichols St., Norwood. In order to raise money to support this nation in its time of need, students of the YFM Program will be holding a bake sale on February 27 and on February 28, after all the Masses. As part of our community s observance of Lent, we ask all families to participate in Catholic Relief Services Operation Rice Bowl, a program of prayer, fasting, learning, and giving. 5 February 14, 2010 A MESSAGE FROM OUR PASTOR Dear friends- As you might remember, some months ago we put in a new sound system in the church. In general I think most people feel that this system did improve the quality of the sound in church. That system, however, was only meant to be temporary and to help us assess whether or not moving the speakers to a lower position on the pillars in the church might improve things. We are now in the process of installing the permanent system. As you know, technology is constantly evolving. Our new system is a digital system and has been used with great results in a number of churches. Hopefully, the installation should be completed and up and running by the time you read this article. You will notice that the speakers are a bit larger and spaced a little differently in the church. We hope that this new system will be a further improvement, but as with anything new, there may be some tweaking that needs to be done. Please let us know your thoughts on the quality of this system so that we can adjust it to its full potential. In some ways it seems that we have only recently celebrated Christmas and now Lent is about to begin. Ash Wednesday is next Wednesday, February 17. As you know, we will have a number of activities to help each of us observe Lent as a special time to deepen our faith. One activity is a inter parish Mission like the very successful Mission we had last year. The dates for that Mission are March You may have heard that the Archdiocese of Boston is making a special effort to encourage all of us to receive the Sacrament of Penance during the season of Lent. To that end, each parish and chapel in the Archdiocese will have priests available to hear confessions each Wednesday during Lent beginning on Feb. 24. Confessions will be held here at our parish from 6:30-8pm each Wednesday, in addition to the regular celebration of the Sacrament on Saturdays at 3:30pm. Each Sacrament brings with it a special grace from God. Often that grace helps us to do things that we could never accomplish on our own. Please consider prayerfully your response to God s call to conversion and renewal by taking advantage of this Sacrament of healing and peace during this Lenten season. Fr. Culloty
