Anyone interested in learning more about what it means to become a Catholic Christian, should contact the parish office. Baptism The Sacrament of Baptism is celebrated at scheduled Liturgies. Parishioners who are expecting a child should contact the office at least two months in advance, or as soon as possible to make arrangements and meet with the Baptismal Preparation Team. Reconciliation Also known as penance or confession, the Sacrament of Penance is regularly available every Saturday at 3:30pm in the church. Individual appointments may also be made with one of the priests. The Sacrament of Penance is celebrated communally during the seasons of Advent and Lent. Marriage Engaged parishioners who are interested in being married at St. Timothy Parish must contact one of the priests at least six months in advance. Call the office regarding Marriage Preparation classes. Sacrament of the Sick Praying for healing in body, mind and soul has always been a part of the Church s ministry to those who are ill. Anyone who is seriously ill or anticipating hospitalization, may celebrate the Sacrament on Saturdays following the 9am Mass, or upon request. Devotion/Prayer Groups Rosary is said Monday through Saturday prior to morning Mass. Guild of St. Timothy The Guild normally meets the first Tuesday of the month, Oct. -May. New Jerusalem Charismatic Prayer Group meets on Thursday from 7:30-9pm. All are welcome!

3 RELIGIOUS EDUCATION Grades K-6 First Communion Attire Collection Do you have any First Communion dresses, veils, suits, shoes or other clothing items for which you no longer have use? This is your opportunity to clear out some of that closet space. Kindly drop these items off, in clean and usable condition, at our Religious Education office during the next several weeks. If you have any questions, please contact Kathy MacKenzie in the Religious Ed. Office. Looking for First Communion-wear? In the coming weeks, we will offer times that you may come to the Church Hall to browse through those gently-used articles of clothing that we are able to collect. If you find something you can use, it is yours for the taking! In Case of Inclement Weather Classes cancelled due to inclement weather will be announced on Channels 4, 5 and 7. In addition, please check the Religious Education line ( ) for cancellation information. Grade 2 Mass and Parent Discussion On Sunday, February 13 our Grade 2 students will gather to celebrate the 9:30 am Mass together with their families. Following Mass, the parents of our Grade 2 students are encouraged to attend a presentation by Dr. Jane Regan of Boston College in the Ruocco Center. Available after the talk will be sign-up sheets for First Eucharist, allowing you the opportunity to choose a date/time for your child to receive their First Communion. PARISH NURSE NEWS Children's Hospital Blood Drive The Social Outreach Ministry, coordinating with the Health Ministry, is hosting a Blood Drive next Sunday, Feb. 13, 2011, to benefit Children's Hospital Boston. The Children's Hospital Bloodmobile will be at St. Timothy's Church parking lot from 8:30am until 1:30pm. Appointment sign-ups will be held after this weekend s Masses. You can also schedule an appointment to donate by calling the Parish Nurse Office, , ext. 34. For specific questions about donating blood or eligibility, please call the Blood Donor Center at Each donation can help up to four young patients! Thanks to all those who have already signed up to donate! Please remember to eat a good breakfast before you come, bring an ID (driver s license, Mass ID, etc.) and keep in mind that children are not allowed on the bloodmobile. Alzheimer's Caregiver Support Group The next meeting will be held this Tuesday, Feb. 8th from 10:00-11:30am in Ruocco Rooms 3/4. This group is open to anyone caring for a loved one with Alzheimer's Disease or a related dementia. Please call the Parish Nurse Office for more information and before attending for the first time. BEREAVEMENT SUPPORT GROUP The Irish Pastoral Centre is offering a bereavement support group to those who have suffered the recent loss of a loved one. This support group will provide a safe & comfortable environment where people can express their feelings with volunteer leaders and facilitators. 4 February 6, 2011 The Guild of St. Timothy presents: Irish Night featuring the sounds of The Publicans, a four piece Irish Band, Saturday, March 12, 2011 at the Parish Hall. The evening goes from7:30pm to 10:30pm and the cost is $10 per person. Coffee, tea, and soft drinks, along with desserts will be served. Placement Exam Marian High School in Framingham will be sponsoring a High School Placement Test on Saturday, February 12 th. This test is specifically for present eighth graders and is a required aspect for admission. Registration may take place by calling the Director of Admissions, Susan Margolis at x 203. The cost of the test is $30.

5 Cluster Lenten Mission for 2011: Pardon My Lenten Smile The Catholic Cluster Parishes of Norwood and Westwood will again be sponsoring a collaborative Lenten Mission. A parish Mission is an opportunity for believers to come together, on four consecutive nights, to reflect on God s role in our lives, and to consider how we can live our faith more fully. All parish members are invited to attend all four nights, or any part of the mission. The key is to participate! Our Mission presenter is Rev. Michael Manning, a wellknown speaker and founder and President of Wordnet Productions, a unique preaching ministry in television. Fr. Manning will lead us in Lenten reflections based on the theme: Pardon My Lenten Smile. The Mission will take place over four nights, with one night being hosted by each of the four parishes in our cluster. Each evening will begin at 7pm with a half hour of quiet prayer before the Mission Presentation at 7:30pm. On Monday, Reconciliation will be celebrated, and an additional session has been scheduled in the afternoon on that day only to accommodate those who would like to celebrate this sacrament. NEW THIS YEAR! Theology on Tap In an effort to reach out to some people who may not be familiar with a Mission structure, we have added a Saturday evening event as part of our Mission outreach. On Saturday, March 19, we will host an informal reception at the Norfolk Golf Club in Westwood. Fr. Manning will do a brief presentation on the Mission theme and parishioners will be invited to participate in informal discussion among themselves and with Fr. Manning.. There is no admission charge for the evening. Pizza will be complimentary and drinks will be available at a cash bar. Each of the four parishes will have a limited number of tickets for 2 different sessions of this event: one from 6:30-8pm; the other from 8:30-10pm.
