Anyone interested in learning more about what it means to become a Catholic Christian, should contact the parish office. Baptism The Sacrament of Baptism is celebrated at scheduled Liturgies. Parishioners who are expecting a child should contact the office at least two months in advance, or as soon as possible to make arrangements and meet with the Baptismal Preparation Team. Reconciliation Also known as penance or confession, the Sacrament of Penance is regularly available every Saturday at 3:30pm in the church. Individual appointments may also be made with one of the priests. The Sacrament of Penance is celebrated communally during the seasons of Advent and Lent. Marriage Engaged parishioners who are interested in being married at St. Timothy Parish must contact one of the priests at least six months in advance. Call the office regarding Marriage Preparation classes. Sacrament of the Sick Praying for healing in body, mind and soul has always been a part of the Church s ministry to those who are ill. Anyone who is seriously ill or anticipating hospitalization, may celebrate the Sacrament on Saturdays following the 9am Mass, or upon request. Devotion/Prayer Groups Rosary is said Monday through Saturday prior to morning Mass. Guild of St. Timothy The Guild normally meets the first Tuesday of the month, Oct. -May. New Jerusalem Charismatic Prayer Group meets on Thursday from 7:30-9pm. All are welcome!

St. Timothy s Book Group Upcoming Meetings We met on November 29 th to discuss the book The Things They Carried by Tim O Brien. Discussion centered on the collateral damage that happens to soldiers and the lasting effect that war has on soldiers, long after they have come home from the battle field. We also pondered the lessons that the Viet Nam war can teach us today and our responsibility to respond to soldiers, veterans and victims of war with Christian compassion and love. We rated the book an 8 on our 10-point scale. Upcoming Meetings: We have decided on selections for our meetings through March, so perhaps you can keep these titles in mind during the gift-giving season! Monday, December 20: Social Gathering. All parishioners are invited to join us for this gathering! No book to read, but bring a wrapped book to swap! The group is open to people caring for a loved one with Alzheimer s Disease or a related dementia. New members are welcome! Please call the Parish Nurse office prior to coming for the first time. Visitors to the Sick and Homebound Visitors to the sick and homebound can pick up their 2011 copy of the Catholic Handbook for Visiting the Sick and Homebound. St. Timothy s Annual Giving Tree This weekend is the deadline for our Giving Tree Project. Please make sure all gifts are placed under the tree by 5pm Sunday! Thank you! Christmas in the City Stuffed Animal Collection Mrs. Campion s and Mrs. Escobar s 8 th grade religious education class will be at all Masses this weekend (Dec. 11/12) collecting New and Nearly New stuffed animals to be given to Boston area children at the annual Christmas in the City Celebration. Christmas in the City is a volunteer non-profit organization established in 1989 to support Boston s homeless families. Please consider donating your Gently Used stuffed animals to this worthy cause. These stuffed animals will be given as Christmas gifts to the children, so please be sure the stuffed animals you donate are in gift-giving condition. Thanks!

4 December 12, 2010 Epiphany Celebration: Sign up this weekend! Our 4 th annual Epiphany Celebration will take place on Friday, January 7, We need people of all ages to be sheep, shepherds, angels, kings, camels, elephants, entourage followers, Irish step dancers, to name a few parts! We also need behind the scenes help! We want members of all ages of your family kids, adults, even teenagers! - to participate! Rehearsals will be on Sundays, December 19th and January 2 nd from 2:00-3:30 pm. Dress rehearsal is on Thursday, January 6 th from 5:30-6:30 pm. Sign up sheets are available in the back of the Church, or us at music@sttim.net. This is a wonderful intergenerational parish-wide celebration. Come and be a part of the fun! Fatima Lights Display The Christmas lights display at Fatima Shrine will go through January 2. The Shrine is located at 101 Summer St., Holliston, MA. Aseracare Hospice Help Needed Aseracare Hospice Care is seeking volunteers to provide supportive care to hospice patients and their caregivers who are facing a life-limiting illness. A training program will begin on Monday, Jan. 10 at Golden Living Center in Norwood, 460 Washington St. Call Heather DePalma at for further information. Christmas Honor s List Each Christmas, we publish an Honor s List as a way of honoring the memory of friends and relatives during this season. We invite you to submit names to the parish office by December 17th. Any offerings will be used for our flowers and decorations. If you receive envelopes, please use your Christmas Flower envelope. 5 Dear friends- Last week I mentioned that I wanted to give you an update on our parish Grand Annual Collection. As of December 8 we have collected $119,343. Thank you for your generous response. This year s collection is about $1,000 more than we had collected at this time last year. This number is most encouraging since many people are still experiencing struggles and hardships due to the economy. This amount might bump up a bit more as some people make end of the year contributions for tax purposes. Your generosity to this collection, as well as your weekly support of our parish, are our two major sources of funding that provide for our salaries, benefits, programs, and parish maintenance. As we do each year, our parish finance committee will give us a complete accounting of our parish income and expenses. When that report is issued, we welcome your feedback and suggestions. Please know that at a time when many parishes and churches are struggling to make ends meet, you have been most generous and supportive, and for that, I am most grateful. Christmas is fast approaching. I would remind you that there will be five Masses for Christmas---4pm; 6pm; and 10pm on Christmas Eve and 9:30 and 11am on Christmas Day. Since Christmas is on a Saturday, there will NOT be a 4:30 pm Vigil Mass for Sunday on Saturday afternoon Dec. 25. The only Masses for Sunday Dec. 26 will be at 8; 9:30; 11am and 5pm. In addition to our regular Saturday afternoon confessions, there will be two additional opportunities to receive that Sacrament on Wed. Dec. 15 and Wed. Dec. 22 from 6:30-8pm. On Friday evening Jan. 7 th, we will again be having our Epiphany celebration which consists of a dinner in the parish hall at 6pm followed by our pageant. This has become a very nice parish tradition for young and old when we can relax a bit and enjoy one another s company after the rush of the Christmas season. You can be involved in the pageant if you wish, and the opportunities for that are in the bulletin. We will also be asking you to sign up for the dinner so that we can make preparations for that event. Have a great week. Fr. Culloty
