Owen Korte SPECIAL NEEDS APPEAL We are beginning to set up the structure for this Appeal to cover the costs of four projects. I presented to the parish a close look at the projects in the presentation I made to the parish after masses last weekend. We had about 150 in total come to learn more. The Four Projects: 1) Raise the remaining funds needed to pay for the Grade School Roof; 2) Raise the needed funds to completely replace the heating and AC in the Church; 3) Raise the funds needed to purchase a new JD tractor for snow removal; 4) Raise the remaining funds needed the purchase the windows that will eventually become our new stained glass windows in the Church. The total appeal goal is $250,000. The need is real and the goal is achievable if we all pull together and give our fair share. Handouts and mailings will be generated as the project progresses. The work now begins. Let us pray for its success. FIRST COMMUNION: We celebrate with our Second Graders on today. Please remember them in prayer. UPCOMING BIRTHDAY: Fr. TOTUS TUUS: The SUMMER JESUS SCHOOL will happen here at Holy Trinity, July Flyers were sent home to all parents who have kids in grades 1-6 and Jr-Hi/HS as well. Let s get going and get signed up. MEMORIAL DAY: MAY 29: I plan on having mass at St. Michael s Cemetery that morning. 4th Degree KC, get ready. I need to have it at 9:00 am because I have to drive to Omaha to get on a plane that afternoon. At this mass we read the names of those buried the past year from our parish funerals whether they are buried at St. Michaels or some other cemetery. I know the VFW has a service and maybe they could do the St. Michael s one prior to or after the mass. But if it doesn t work out they will do it when they can. MAY CROWNING AND MOTHERS MASS: On Friday, May 12 at 8:05 Holy Trinity Grade School will host a traditional May Crowning. This is a wonderful tradition and will, I hope, become something that moms and kids will look forward to year after year. The goal is for all moms to attend: moms include Grandmas and Great Grandmas and any other lady member of the family who wants to come. The Children will all be preparing a present for their mothers. All the teachers are working with the kids that have situations where mom is deceased or can t come so that each child has an adult mom present, and this mom could be dad. Any and all ladies of the parish are encouraged to come. This is a day to honor Our Lady, the Blessed Virgin Mary, and so making an effort to fill our church that day to honor our One Spiritual Mother is a very good thing. Dads & men, if you are free then you too can come, we don t discriminate. All are welcome. TREES DONATED: Through the generosity of the priests who served in Hartington, came from Hartington, or graduated from Cedar we are getting a number of trees planted around the perimeter of the parking lot. The parking lot is still the property of Holy Trinity Parish and used by Cedar and Holy Trinity. I d like to thank the following priests for their donations: Fr. John Pietramale, Fr. Jeff Loseke, Fr. James Keiter, Fr. Owen Korte, Fr. Paul Hoesing, Fr. Jeremy Hans. I d like to thank our local tree expert, Dan Kathol, for his services in helping to choose the right kind of trees and the two local tree companies: Hartington Tree and Fisher Tree for their services and help. KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS 4TH DEGREE: Mark your calendars. We will be having a get-together, a social, a meeting, an event a ya ll need to come with spouses evening function on Sunday May 21. In thanksgiving to God for His many blessings ORDINATION: The Ordination of Roger Filips as a Permanent Deacon for our parish is Sat., April 29th at the Cathedral in Omaha at 10 am. Deacon Filips will be the fourth deacon to serve Holy Trinity. He joins the elite group following Deacon Paul Steffen, ordained in 1999, Deacon Bernard Burton, & Deacon Dan Janssen. Coffee & roll reception after both Sunday Masses on May 7th. LITURGY & SPIRITUALITY MEETING: This committee will meet May 4th, at 5:30 pm in the parish conference room. HOLY TRINITY ELEMENTARY CONCERT: You are all cordially invited to the Elementary School Concert this Thursday, May 4, at 7 PM in the HT Gym. CATHOLIC DAUGHTERS: There will be a Catholic Daughters of America meeting on Tuesday, May 2nd at 6 p.m. in the HT Cafeteria. EASTER COLLECTION UPDATE: There was an additional $1,780 donated this week, so we are now at $27, We are short budget by $5, TUITION AND PRESCHOOL CARE: All tuition and preschool care bills need to be taken care of by the 10th of May, unless you have made other arrangements with the parish office. ELEMENTARY SCHOOL FINANCIAL COMMITMENTS: The Financial Commitment Forms have gone home with the students for the fall term. If you did not receive a commitment form and have children that will be attending Holy Trinity School this coming fall, please call or stop in the parish office. YOUTH CAMP FORMS: The registration forms for all current 8th grade students were mailed out. These forms need to be returned as soon as possible to the parish office. If you did not receive a form and have a student who is currently in the 8th grade, please call the parish office TOTUS TUUS SUMMER CAMP: The registration and medical information forms for our summer bible camp have been given to all parents who have students who will be in Grades 1-12 this coming fall. These registrations need to returned to the parish office as soon as possible. The camp dates are July for Grades 1-6 and July for Grades SPECIAL COLLECTIONS: Please do not turn in anymore envelopes for the Franciscans in the Holy Land.
