2 Come Holy Spirit! On Wednesday May 7 th we had our first Ascension and St. Bernard Confirmation Sending Dinner at Ascension s Social Hall. We had about 90 people attending, with nearly all of our Confirmation students and many of their parents and sponsors. A tasty lasagna dinner was served by Rita Fahey, Terri Lano, Janet Fahey and Kara Wickenhauser. The Confirmation students heard testimonies on the importance of the Catholic Faith by two young persons Peter Schwichtenberg and Nichole Drees. They shared how their Catholic Faith has assists them as young adults. An inspirational clip from a new Confirmation program called Chosen was shown. We did a walkthrough of the Rite of Confirmation. I also spoke with the families about the importance of the Sacrament of Confirmation. It was appropriate to have this special evening for our young parishioners to mark this important step in their lives. Hopefully they experienced the love of those who planned and served at the event and were inspired to more fully live out their Catholic Faith. Let s continue to be good examples of Christians living to our Youth, and continue to pray for them! St. Maria Goretti, pray for our Youth! Saint Aloysius Gonzaga, pray for our Youth! Fr. 3 Church of the Ascension Norwood Young America, MN Due to time constraints this week s financial report will not be published. A combined financial report will be in next week s bulletin. SERVER TRAINING Fr. Gregory will be training students entering the 4 th grade next year and higher who wish to become altar servers on Friday, May 23 rd, at 6:30 PM at Ascension in the Church. All current servers are welcome to attend to update their skills. We need someone for adoration each Thursday from 3 4 p.m. through at least the summer. If you can fill this hour, please call the coordinator at Vacation Bible School Vacation Bible School will be held June 16 th 20 th at St. Bernard for Ascension and St. Bernard s youth age 4 through 6 th grade. A brochure with information and the registration form is available in the church entry. Please turn registration into the parish office or drop it in the collection by May 18 th. Elections for 2 members of the Parish / Finance Council will take place on May 31 June 1 st. Volunteers are needed for 2 open seats on the Parish/Finance Council: each is for a 3-year term. Meetings are held on the 4 th Monday each month. Please contact Fr. Gregory or Jack Lano if you are interested in running for council. Baccalaureate Service Please join the West Carver Ministerial Association and the 2014 Central High School graduates for the annual Baccalaureate Service to be held on Wednesday, May 28 at 7:00 p.m. at Central High School Auditorium, Norwood Young America, MN. This service will celebrate the presence and love of Jesus Christ in the life of the graduates. We hope you will join us. Refreshments will be served following the service. We encourage choir members and anyone else who is interested to rehearse with the Baccalaureate community choir at Ascension Catholic Church on Wednesday, May 21 at 7:30 pm All current altar servers from both parishes are invited to a Twins game on Tuesday, July 1 st. We would like to thank all the students and parents who so generously showed their appreciation through the many treats and written and spoken kind words lavished on us. We would especially like to thank the Home & School Association for organizing the activities and for providing a delicious luncheon for us, served on a beautiful table complete with table cloth and flowers. The creamy wild rice soup, savory pasta salad, refreshing fruit salad, fresh bread, tangy lemonade and heavenly dessert were absolutely delicious! We sincerely appreciate your appreciation! THANK YOU! The Rainbow store in Chaska will be closing soon - therefore SCRIP NEWS once our Rainbow cards are gone, we will not reorder. CARIBOU coffee cards are now in stock in $10.00 denominations. Caribou Coffee/Bruegger Bagels in Waconia is open and they will accept either Caribou or Brueggers cards. Only about 6weeks until the end of our Fiscal year. Your Scrip orders are needed to increase our profits for this year. Don't forget we have PaPa Murphys Pizza and Panera Bread cards along with our regular on hand cards. Special orders are always welcome. They take about a week to arrive. Thanks to all for those who take the time to purchase Scrip. The paper drive will begin Monday, May 19th. Please bring all of your magazines, newspapers, cardboard etc. to the trailer that will be parked in the parking lot on the north side of the school. We will also have a metal recycling trailer for your scrap metal, appliances, etc. Opportunity to share you time and talent: We are looking for people interested in forming a committee to operate and help at the Taco in a Bag food stand at Glad Days.
