2 THANK YOU This weekend on the Solemnity of Pentecost 19 of our 2 nd grade parishioners encounter Christ in the most intimate & personal way possible in this life, in the Holy Communion. This is my Body which is given up for you. This is my Blood which is poured out for you. Last Saturday these same 19 precious children encountered the most liberating truth that God loves us all the way down into the ugliness of our sins and is ALWAYS ready to forgive us when we ask as they made their 1 st Reconciliation. WHAT A JOY to hear the little ones came out of this sacramental encounter with Mercy Himself with J s on their faces. Thank you Jesus. You are SO GOOD TO US! You sins are forgiven, go in peace. In April nine of our High School students received a fuller outpouring of the Holy Spirit as they received the Sacrament of Con irmation. Be sealed with the Gift of the Holy Spirit. Some of our young parishioners attending Catholic Schools were blessed to receive these sacraments through their Catholic School this spring as well. On behalf of our parishes I take this opportunity to THANK all those who generously shared their love of God & love of their Catholic Faith with our youth and their families through STBAFF Program this year. Giving up Wednesday evenings throughout the school year in addition to giving up time to prepare and travel is a BIG investment. We were blessed with dedicated and talented catechists and catechist assistants, and SO MANY OTHERS: meal preparers, greeters, adorers, tuition and meal sponsorship committee (THANK YOU to all parishioners, companies and organizations who generously donated), parking lot assistants, faith formation movers (when moving from one parish to the other at mid-year), STBAFF Committee, those who cleaned our classrooms at the beginning of the year, meal/food/decorating helpers for special events. 3 Church of the Ascension Norwood Young America, MN Corpus Christi Procession We will be celebrating the Feast of Corpus Christi on Sunday, June 3 rd after the 8 am Mass at Ascension, with a procession of the Blessed Sacrament, followed by the Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament. Please join us in this celebration of the real presence of the body of Christ. Home for the Summer Program The Office of Vocations is offering a new summer program! Home for the Summer is a Catholic household for women. Located in Northeast Minneapolis, the program is for women who are high school graduates to age 27, and will include a community of prayer and fellowship with opportunities to encounter religious sisters. The Bethany House 2018 Summer program begins June 16 and concludes August 11, and offers an opportunity for daily Holy Hour and Mass, dinners with Religious Sisters, and the experience of living in community with other women open to Religious life. Active parishioners who are registered members of St. Bernard Church, and who do not otherwise qualify for a tuition discount or subsidy by reason of also being a member of the host school's parish, are invited to request tuition assistance for their children who are enrolled in K-12th grade in a neighboring Catholic School for the coming year. Giving of one's time and talent means making Sunday/Saturday mass a weekly priority and volunteering in some aspect of the parish. Cemetery Decorations: Spring is finally here!! Below, please see the regulations for the St. Bernard Cemetery. No permanent plants or flowers may be planted on a lot. Decorations, including artificial flowers, potted plants, decorations, flags or other ornaments, may be placed on graves beginning at noon on the Thursday before Memorial Day and may remain there until the Sunday after Memorial Day. Decorations must be removed by this date. Decorations that are not removed will be discarded by St. Bernard s Parish. Wreaths or other evergreen displays are permitted from November 1 to March 1. No other types of decorations are permitted. No decorations are permitted other than during these times. Loose, freshly cut flowers may be placed at graves. Such flowers must not be bound together with any wire, string, or ribbon, nor placed in a vase or pot. Cut flowers will be disposed of by St. Bernard's Parish during lawn mowing or when, in the sole discretion of St. Bernard's, the flowers become unsightly, withered, or otherwise unattractive.
