Luke 2:51 Dear Brothers & Sisters in Christ, This October I invite all of us to come as families, couples and individuals to pray the family rosary 25 minutes before Sunday (Saturday) Mass. Indeed, we as parishes are family. Prayer bonds a family together. The Mass is the most profound family prayer. The rosary prepares us to enter more fully into the Mass as we insert ourselves into the maternal heart of Mary and she introduces us to a deeper relationship with her Son. This October our family rosary is for the healing of our family and all who have been wounded by the clergy sexual abuse scandal. To our mother Mary who stands at the foot of the cross that most painful and healing place we commend all our brothers and sisters: those who have been abused and their families and friends, the abusers, the bishops who mishandled/covered-up the abuse, the entire church, those whose faith has been lost or weakened by the scandal. The family that prays together has a better chance of staying together. Altar Server Training/Refresher We are in need of more altar servers. Altar server training for both Ascension and St. Bernard will be 6:30-7:45pm Wednesday, October 10 th at St. Bernard. All boys and girls grades 3-12 th who would like to be and who are currently serving are asked to come. Holy Mary mother of God, pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death. Amen. Fr. Gather at the State Capitol at 6:30 p.m. The procession to the Cathedral of Saint Paul begins at 7 p.m. Those who cannot walk the route may go directly to the Cathedral to pray the Rosary. 3 Church of the Ascension Norwood Young America, MN Beautification Help Needed: We are currently seeking a part time person (approximately 5-6 hrs per week) at Ascension for custodial care to keep our church facilities beautiful and pleasing in the eyes of our Lord. Duties would include dusting, vacuuming, cleaning bathrooms, taking out garbage, set up of tables and chairs for funerals, etc. There may be some light maintenance such as changing light bulbs and minor repairs. Ascension's Catholic United Financial is sponsoring a "Mystery Bingo" on Sunday, Oct. 14 at 1:00. Join us for a fun afternoon games of bingo will be played. Each "mystery" gift is valued at approx. $20. There will be a grand prize drawing for adults and two special drawings for children. Concessions will be available. Proceeds benefit Ascension's Faith Formation program. Sun. Oct. 7th there will be a Thank You and Farewell to Marlene Robinson after the 8:00 a.m. Mass at Donut Sunday. Come and wish her well. She will be returning to her hometown, Traverse City, in Michigan. Chili Feed Saturday, October 6th Your Quilt raffle tickets can be turned in to the person at the table in the narthex selling the Cash Raffle Tickets, the collection plate ( in a separate envelope marked Quilt Raffle ), the evening of the Chili Feed or to the Parish Office. Extra Quilt Raffle tickets are on the table in the narthex. A sign- up sheet is on the table in the Narthex for workers to volunteer to help at the chili feed.
