2 Hello fellow Parishioners of Ascension and St. Bernard, Whew! Am I glad these last few weeks are under our belt. With working out some kinks with the transition of pastors, vacations and scheduling of substitute priests to cover, and then the weather on top of it, it s been pretty hectic. Hopefully, we are through the worst of it. Thank you, Jesus! The Lenten season will be starting in just a few weeks. This is a perfect time for us to focus deeper on our relationship with our Savior as we prepare to walk with him on his journey to the cross and witness his glorious resurrection on Easter Sunday. There will be several opportunities over the Lenten season that can help us on our spiritual journey. Our journey can start on Ash Wednesday with fasting and participation at an Ash Wednesday service (8am and 6:45pm at Ascension). We can unburden our souls at our Combined Evening of Reconciliation on Wed., March 13 th at Ascension. And each Friday, we can walk with Jesus at our Stations of the Cross services. They will be at 7pm, the first 3 weeks and the second three weeks at Ascension. We will also have the Lenten Word Among Us booklets for individual daily reflection. For fellowship during Lent, all are welcome to participate in the Fish Fries at both parishes and we are looking at the possibility of having Soup Suppers prior to the Stations of the Cross on Fridays. More to come on this. Then comes Holy Week, starting with Palm Sunday celebrating Jesus entrance into Jerusalem followed by the Triduum the most sacred three days of the year. The Holy Thursday and Good Friday services will be at St. Bernard at 7pm. On Good Friday, the confirmation students will also be doing the Living Stations at 3pm at Ascension. If you have never been to this, please plan to attend as they give an awesome presentation of word and music. The Triduum concludes with the Easter Vigil at 8pm at Ascension. Our Easter Sunday celebration proclaiming our Risen Lord will be at 8am at Ascension and 10am at St Bernard. Please watch the bulletin in the coming weeks for the details of these services. Drive-thru Pickup Available. Cost: Adults - $11.00, Kids $5.00, Kids 5 and under - Free Can you help? The Ascension KC s are requesting your help with providing desserts for the Fish Fry on March 1 st. A donation of a pan of bars, a cake, or a couple dozen cookies for this event would be greatly appreciated. Last year over 1000 meals were served so lots are needed. Donations may be dropped off in the Social Hall on Thursday or Friday morning. Ascension s Catholic United s second annual Feed My Starving Children will take place March 12 th from 6:00 7:30 pm at Lake Drive East, Chanhassen, Mn. There is still time to sign up for Feed My Starving Children. Either call (you will need to leave a message) or text and reserve your spot by March 4 th Phone Hope you can join us! We are in need of someone to fill the 5 p.m.-6 p.m. Adoration spot each Thursday at Ascension. Is God calling you to spend time with Him in Adoration each week?
