3 SPECIAL SECOND COLLECTION FOR The Religious community Mary Star of the Evangelization SEGUNDA COLECTA ESPECIAL PARA La comunidad religiosa María Estrella de la Evangelización We have a special visitor this weekend, Fr. Matias. He is a member of Fr. Gerardo s religious community Mary Star of Evangelization. After spending 10 years as Superior of the missionary community in Mexico, Fr. Matias will be returning to his native Italy. He has come to our parish seeking donations to install solar panels in the 500 years old community s monastery/seminary in Italy. The community currently has 11 seminarians preparing for the priesthood, 5 novices, and 2 aspirants. These men are from Italy, Mexico, Brazil and Lebanon. The winters are very cold in this part of Italy and heating cost for such an ancient and large structure is very expensive. Installing these solar panels will allow the community to keep warm without having to spend large sums of money every year in heating cost. Tenemos un visitante especial este fin de semana, Padre Matias. Padre Matias es miembro del la comunidad religiosa de Padre Gerardo María Estrella de la Evangelización. Después de 10 años como Superior de la comunidad misionera en México, el Padre Matías se prepara para regresar a su Italia natal. Viene a nuestra parroquia buscando donaciones para instalar paneles solares en el monasterio / seminario de la comunidad en Italia. Este monasterio tiene más de 500 años. María Estrella de la Evangelización tiene actualmente 11 seminaristas que se preparan para el sacerdocio, 5 novicios y 2 aspirantes. Estos hombres vienen de Italia, México, Brasil y Líbano. Los inviernos son muy fríos en esta parte de Italia y el costo de calefacción para una estructura tan antigua y grande es muy costoso. La instalación de paneles solares permitirá que la comunidad se mantenga caliente sin tener que gastar mucho dinero cada año en costo energético. 3

Adrienne: Hello: back in 2016 I had requested a prayer via your website when I was 4 or 5 months pregnant. I had been told that there was a likelihood that my son had spina bifida after blood tests and ultrasound scans. (The doctors were convinced enough that we were actually discussing a possible experimental surgery that could be done in the womb to try to fix the spine. I was even asked if I wanted to end the pregnancy--which was not something I was even considering.) I'm not Catholic but was at a point where I was looking for whatever help I could find, spiritual as well as medical, and read about St. Gerard. It was an emotionally trying time for me as I had already dealt with a scary hemorrhage and one E.R. visit as well as large fibroids and other possible issues. I sent a prayer request through your website and also reached out to the St. Gerard monastery in Scotland to request a relic. Anyway, thankfully my son was born healthy later in 2016 with no issues-just clubfoot (which was seen in ultrasound scans) and that is correctable. No spina bifida or other issues. Apologies for the delay in giving you an update. I can't say for sure that there was some heavenly help, but thinking of Saint Gerard did bring me comfort during those nervous months and I would like to thank whomever read my request and offered their prayers and well-wishes.
