2 Fourth Sunday of Easter April Website - Summer in the Forest is an extraordinarily tender documentary that asks what it means to be human. Here, even the most gentle scenes raise mighty questions. It is a beautiful film about Jean Vanier and the communities he created for people with disabilities called L Arche communities. Vanier s parents are up for canonization! In the 1960s, Jean Vanier founded L Arche, a community near Paris that has become home to many men and women with developmental disabilities. The filmmakers follow Mr. Vanier, now in his 80s, as he lives and works with those who have Down syndrome and other conditions. His Holiness Pope Francis wishes to affirm his warm support of all initiatives to foster and integrate at the heart of our societies the mentally disabled. This film has been extremely successful in getting a Catholic message out into the mainstream and is helping to change the way disabilities are viewed in the U.S. Summer in the Forest is playing right now in the LA area at these theaters: Laemmle Music Hall, The Regal Westpark, Laemmle Playhouse and Laemmle Town Center.
