3 OCTAVO DOMINGO DEL TIEMPO ORDINARIO QUESTION OF THE WEEK Step One: Listen to the Word Which line in this reading caught your ear? What sense do you get about God as you listen to this Word proclaimed today? Step Two: Look into Your Life Question for Children: Jesus teaches us to do good. What did you do this past week that was really good, kind or loving? Question for Youth: Jesus says that our words reveal what is in our hearts. How do your words and actions reveal what is truly in your heart? Question for Adults: We humans are vulnerable to sin. But we see the sins of others more easily than we recognize our own sins. Why does Jesus warn us not to judge others? PRAYER TO ST. MICHAEL St. Michael, the Archangel, defend us in battle, be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the devil. May God rebuke him, we humbly pray; and do thou, O Prince of the heavenly host, by the power of God, thrust into hell Satan and the other evil spirits who prowl about the world for the ruin of souls. Amen. Pope Leo XIII, ( ), introduced the above prayer throughout the Church, and it was prayed after all the low Masses. This prayer was eliminated just before Vatican II, but in 1994 St. Pope John Paul II requested the faithful to take up again the praying of the Prayer to St. Michael in the battle of our times "against the forces of darkness and against the spirit of this world." Since this prayer is not part of the Mass, it should not be prayed within the proper of Mass, but instead we will pray it at the end of the daily Masses, right after the closing song. We will begin praying this prayer on the Thursday after Ash Wednesday, March 7 th, after all the daily morning & evening Masses. You will find the prayer at the top of the very last page of the Breaking Bread books in the pews. Steephen was born in India to a prayerful family. Immediately after his high school education, he entered the Servite Order or the Order of Friar Servants of Mary in 1997 and was ordained on April 22, 2009 also for that community. He was then appointed as a Vocation Director as well as both as an Associate Pastor and Pastor for a Servite parish while still in India. Father Steephen continues to find his relationship with the Lord increasing everyday and his love to serve God's people as a way of serving His master. SAFEGUARD THE CHILDREN DID YOU KNOW To establish confidence with your children start with questions about their daily activities Sometimes children will behave in a manner quite unusual for them stress, misunderstanding, or some form of abuse can be related to such behaviors. If you see your child exhibiting unusual behavior, talk with your child about their day or recent experiences in an open-ended conversation. Do ask factual questions, such as, What did you do today? Did you do anything unusual today? Who did you see today? Did anyone say or do anything that was unusual or even upsetting? Then, ask feeling questions as a follow-up, and remember that sometimes it s easier for a child to talk about someone else s feelings first. SABÍA QUE?
