David Guzman MXY to our parish, He is a missionary priest who has served in Kenya, Africa for 14 years. He speaks English, Spanish, Kiswahili and Kipsigis languages. He belongs to the Yarumal Missionaries. The goal of the Yarumal Missionaries, who were founded 85 years ago, is to witness the Gospel of Jesus Christ among people and cultures where the Gospel is not yet fully preached. They are present in Bolivia, Ecuador, Peru, Colombia, Panama, Kenya, Ivory Coast, Ethiopia, Angola, Cambodia and Thailand. In order to carry out their pastoral programs, these missionaries depend very much on the generosity of the Christians from parishes they visit. Our support for Rev. Guzman is a sign that reminds us of our baptismal vocation: We are also missionaries of Christ. 5 A NEW INITIATIVE FOR BENGALI PARISHIONERS St. Bartholomew Church will hold Mass in Bengali on Sunday, September 2, 2018 at 4.00 P.M. in the Chapel. There will be confession from 3.30 P.M. The feast of St. Teresa of Calcutta is on September 5. Hence, the First Sunday Bengali Mass will be in Thanksgiving to God and to celebrate the Feast of St. Teresa of Calcutta. With this mass in Bengali, the Bengali community hopes to continue every month on the first Sunday of the month. Soon after the mass there will be a fellowship in the Heafey Hall. The process is called Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA). It s a weekly preparation program that will assist you in your faith formation and prepare you for the sacraments to be received at the Easter Vigil. In order to give letters of recommendation, letters attesting to character, sponsor certificates, and other documents that may have legal or religious purposes, it is required that persons requesting those documents be registered and be active members of St Bartholomew Parish at least three months prior to your request. We can not provide any of these documents to people not registered in the parish. SACRAMENT OF RECONCILIATION (Confession) There are two times every Saturday for confessions in the main church: 4 pm and 6:30 pm. Also Thursday at 6:30pm in the Chapel. We now have two priests assigned during these times to make it convenient and less time to wait. Please do your part.come as close as possible to these confession times. Take advantage of this wonderful opportunity of God s mercy and love. FAITH FORMATION PROGRAM Over 800 children are now enrolled in the faith formation program. Space is limited and so are the number of catechists we have. We expect over 1000 children this year. You are encouraged to register your child NOW please do not wait any longer. We may need to close registration if we do not have the adequate space. We are blessed that more than 30 parishioners signed up to be catechists or assistants. NECESITAS UNA CARTA DE SU IGLESIA?
