10 Dear Pledgers to the Athens First United Methodist Church 2014 Budget, On your pledge card you expressed interest in information pertaining to online payment of pledges to our church. The first method is to fill out the Credit/Debit Authorization Form that can be found at athensfirstumc.org/creditdebitauthorizationform. Your signature on this document is your permission and agreement to allow me to transact this withdrawal. Once completed, please mail, bring by the office, or drop in the offering plate inside an envelope along with a voided check and instructions about how much I should automatically withdraw from your checking account each month. I currently have a process of withdrawing after the first of the month and/or after the 15th of the month. I will need to know how long to process this withdrawal from your account. A second method is through our church s online giving page. With this method, you have absolute control over how much is sent to the church, how frequently it is sent, and when it discontinues. You will have a history that you can follow and a confirmation when the transaction occurs. Visit athensfirstumc.org/giving or click on the Giving button on our homepage if you prefer this option. 11 Announcements Sympathy Heartfelt Christian sympathy is extended to Andy Johnson and family in the loss of his mother, Mary Ellen Johnson. Baptisms McGinnis Revere Allen received the Sacrament of Baptism on January 12 in our sanctuary. Reves is the daughter of April and David Allen, and the granddaughter of Peggy Allen. Pray for the Tijuana Mission Team Please keep the Tijuana mission team in your prayers this week as they serve! They left for Tijuana on January 15 and will return on January 20, The team consists of Timothy Blackwell, Thomas Blackwell, Toby Blackwell, Joe Block, Alan Cannon, Chuck Chapeau, Joe Hay, Chuck Jordan, Scott Reynolds, Scott Rodgers, David Steger, and Davy Crockett Communion Guild Training January 26 This training is for current communion servers and preparers and those who are looking for an opportunity to become more involved with worship. We will discuss the significance of Holy Communion, along with how the elements are prepared and served at Athens First United Methodist Church. We invite you to sign up to serve Communion at any of the three worship services throughout the year. If you would like to join the Communion Guild or just want to find out more information, please join us at the front of the sanctuary immediately following the 11:00 service on January 26. We invite you to come each Wednesday night for a time of singing, ringing, learning scriptures, playing instruments, and praising God! This year we are focusing on empowering children to use their hearts, hands, and voices to love Jesus and love others. 12 Monday Bible Study and Reflection Group An ongoing Bible Study and Reflection Group that is open to all meets on Mondays through May 20, except holidays, from 1:15 to 2:15 p.m. in the John Wesley Parlor. The weekly scripture readings include passages from the Old Testament, New Testament, and Psalms. Contact: Dianne Morrison Senior Fun Luncheon January 23 All individuals 55 years of age and older are invited to the January Senior Fun luncheon. Dr. Jim Cooper, a nationally recognized expert in pharmaceutical sciences and one of our own church members will discuss senior health issues. Broadway songs will be performed by Ms. Perry Wright, an outstanding soloist in the School of Music, a member of our church choir, and a soloist from Messiah. Please reserve your seat as early as possible. R.S.V.P. to the church office by January 20 at noon. Lunch on Thursday will begin at 12:30 and the cost is $6. We will begin Friday, January 24 from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m and continue on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. We ll explore how God is working in our lives and how He s calling us to be a part of His church in the coming year. 13 Dave Ramsey s Financial Peace Begins February 3 Dave Ramsey s Financial Peace course will be offered Monday nights this winter, beginning February 3-March 31, 6:30-8:00 p.m. Cost is $100.
