2 THIRTEENTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME JULY 2, 2017 A NOTE FROM FATHER JOHN We are grateful for the parishioners and volunteers who participated in Thursday s Produce to the People food distribution. They served 105 families. Fr. Adam Potter plans to celebrate all the Masses the weekend of July 1 & 2. There will also be receptions after the 6:00 p.m. and the 11:00 a.m. Masses On Mission: Now What? The On Mission for The Church Alive! initiative is entering a new phase as we continue planning and working for the future of the Church of Pittsburgh. The On Mission Commission, a group of over 80 clergy, religious and lay members from across the diocese are studying the proposed parish groupings and considering the feedback gathered from recent parish surveys and town hall meetings. The Commission will offer recommendations that will eventually be shared with Bishop Zubik, who will make the ultimate determination. While final decisions have yet to be made, they are being discerned based upon the input you have provided. Please be sure to place your suggested donation in the money slot on the display so the ministry can be self-supporting. The Little Sisters of the Poor plan to be at the doors of the churches after Mass on the weekend of July 1 st and 2 nd to receive your donations for their apostolate to the elderly poor. The Sisters have been serving the poor in Pittsburgh since 1872 and they need our contributions to continue their work. It emphasizes the sanctity of faith and marriage and focuses on the many threats to religious liberty in our country, as well religious freedom concerns in other areas. We are all encouraged to advocate to our representatives in the Congress and Senate about these issues, as well as to pray fervently that the rights of all believers will be respected in our country. We need about $5,000 to pay for the motor that was installed in the cooling tower. Please place your contribution in an envelope marked Madonna Air Conditioning and place in the collection or mail to the parish. May God bless your generosity. OUR PARISH FESTIVAL: Our Annual Parish Festival is Thursday, July 27th, Friday, July 28th, and Saturday, July 29th. It is a very important fundraiser for our parish. We need the cooperation of the entire parish to make this a success. Anyone wishing to donate the following items for use in the kitchen: Butter/margarine, flour, oil, etc. can drop them off at the social hall or office between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. daily or call Lois Petrarca at DONATIONS NEEDED FOR FESTIVAL GIFT BASKETS: Preparations have begun for this year s Parish Festival Gift Baskets. If you have any unopened bottles of alcohol or are able to purchase new bottles, please consider donating them for the gift baskets. Donations can be dropped off in the Madonna kitchen after the weekend Mass, or at the Parish Office, Monday Friday. BAKED GOODS: We also need donations of baked goods. Please drop them off starting Wed., July 26 at Dattilo Hall.
