COMMUNITY FOOD PANTRY: Collection of food is taken the last Sunday of each month at Word of God Parish (leave donations inside the entrances of the church). Checks should be made out to Swissvale Cares and memo Food Pantry. The Food Pantry is located in the Living Spirit Ministry building on 2011 Noble Street. Food distributions are made the first & third Thursday of each month from 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Volunteers welcome. Swissvale Cares, along with the Greater Swissvale Community Food Pantry will have another special distribution of fresh fruits, vegetables and select dry goods to those in need. All food will be distributed from the Word of God Parish Center playground and parking lot. If you feel you are in need please plan to come and get your food distribution. It will be Thurs., Aug. 24, 2:00p.m. to 4:00p.m. Please bring an ID. We will also be in need of volunteers to help sort, package and distribute the food. Volunteers are needed 1:00p.m. to 4:00p.m. on this day. To become a Catholic, a person takes a wonderful spiritual journey through the process called The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA). We invite anyone who is not baptized, baptized in another Christian faith, and baptized Catholics who have not received First Communion and/or Confirmation on this journey that begins with get-acquainted sessions in August and group sessions that begin September 24 th.
