Through our participation in public worship we are nourished by the Word and the Body of the Lord. We are called to share what we have received by evangelization and by good works to those in need. THE SACRAMENT OF THE EUCHARIST Saturday, Evening: 5:00 pm Sunday: 8:00 am, 10:00 am, 12:00 pm Weekdays: Monday through Friday: 7:15 & 9:00 am (Day Chapel) Weekends: Saturday morning: 9:00 am only Holy Days of Obligation: 7:15 am, 9:00 am, 12:10 pm & 7:30 pm. THE SACRAMENT OF RECONCILIATION (Confession) Saturday: 4:00-4:30 pm Other times by appointment THE SACRAMENT OF BAPTISM Pre-Baptismal Instruction for Parents: Held prior to Baptism (Call the Parish Office for schedules and further information) Baptisms The Sacrament of Baptism is administered on the last Sunday of each month at 1:30 pm except during Advent and Lent. THE SACRAMENT OF MATRIMONY The Sacrament of Matrimony is celebrated for parishioners. The couple are to contact the priest at least six (6) months prior to the ceremony. PRIORY OFFICE HOURS Monday to Thursday: 9:00 am to 7:00 pm Friday: 9:00 am to 4:00 pm Saturday: 2:00 pm to 6:30 pm Sunday: 9:00 am to 1:30 pm Closed on all holidays. THE SACRAMENT OF THE ANOINTING OF THE SICK AND MINISTRY TO THE SICK & ELDERLY The Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick is a sacrament of healing., expressing love of God and our Church for the sick, our shut-ins and the elderly. For the SERIOUSLY ILL and dying, contact the Priory. Communion will be brought on Sundays to the home of any person permanently or temporarily homebound. CHRISTIAN HOSPITALITY Welcome to the Transfiguration Community. Please register at the Priory. Registering and weekly participating are ways of acquiring a true sense of belonging to our parish community. A record of active membership is a necessary requirement for marriage in the Parish Church, testimonial letters for Baptismal/Confirmation sponsors. If you move or change address, please notify us. 5 POPE FRANCIS' PRAYER INTENTION FOR OCTOBER: "We should always remember the dignity and rights of those who work, condemn situations in which that dignity and those rights are violated, and help to ensure authentic progress by man and society. Let us pray that all workers may receive respect and protection of their rights, and that the unemployed may receive the opportunity through their work to contribute to the common good." See the original video at: YOUNG ADULTS 21-35: SUNDAY, OCTOBER 15, 6:00pm: SAVE THE DATE!!!: All young adults, single and married, are invited to a social gathering downstairs in the parish hall on October 15 at 6:00pm. It will be an opportunity to just get together and socialize and to see how the Spirit will move us in growing together for our parish community. ON THE BULLETIN BOARD: There are many events going on throughout the archdiocese, too many of which can be included in the parish bulletin. Further information on the following events can be found on the parish bulletin board at the parking lot entrance to the church: Columbus Day Parade: October 9 DOOR COLLECTION THIS WEEKEND: As I mentioned last week, we will be taking up a collection at the door after all Masses in aid of hurricane relief. A portion of the proceeds will go to Catholic Relief Services, because of their low administrative costs, guaranteeing that most of the money will go toward aid to the victims of the hurricanes in the US, in Puerto Rico, and the US Virgin Islands. The other portion will go to the Redemptorist Congregation in aid of the island of Dominica. They have begun a gofundme campaign to raise funds to rebuild churches and houses. 80% of their infrastructure was also damaged by Hurricane Maria. If you would still like to contribute, St. Peter's Church in Florida suffered the loss of both their church and their rectory. Their pastor, Fr. Jets Medina, is a friend of mine, and he has asked for our help. If you would like to donate in the form of gift cards, for example, to grocery stores, Home Depot or Ace Hardware, or Visa and American Express, you can send them directly to him. If instead you wish you send a check to help rebuild the parish, you may make out a check to "St. Peter Catholic Church" and send it to the following address: St. Peter Catholic Church PO Box Overseas Hwy Big Pine Key, FL Whatever and however you can give will be appreciated. We will be reciting the Joyful Mystery of the Rosary as we pray for world peace, the conversion of sinners and for the souls in Purgatory. The rosary will be said outside in front of the church.
