In addi on to the sign up sheets for future Masses, there is also a check-in sheet for the current weekend. Volunteers are s ll needed for any slots that are blank. 3 Weekly message for the parish AS WE BEGIN ANOTHER YEAR Every year we get an opportunity to experience in a unique way this most beau ful and holy season of the year; the Christmas season. We also get to be a bit older (believe it or not!) at the turn of each New Year. Hopefully, through the grace and blessings of the Christmas season, we also get to be a li le closer to God. Christ s message of salva on is always one of invita on to step closer to Him, and to experience His grace and His truth. Like the Magi who kept watch un l they saw His Star rising from the East, may we always be on the watch for Christ s invita on. It is not uncommon to celebrate addi ons to the family during this season of the year. It is also a me when we are reminded of, and when we feel more acutely, the loss of family members who have been called Home ahead of us. For some, this has been their first ever Christmas without their loved one. There are also those among us who have had to deal with various health and economic issues. As a parish family, we join in li ing everyone up in prayers during this season of grace. May the incarna on of Christ Jesus, through the powerful intercession of the Blessed Mother Mary, our Mediatrix, bring much needed healing into our hearts and homes. Our God, in His own unique fashion, uses our various experiences of faith and life to enable and prepare us for that which He holds in store for us; for a future that is more than we can an cipate or envision. I would like to thank every single member of this parish for all the ways you are helping to build up faith in our parish, and to make ours a more Christ-like Church. Let us keep joining hands in building and sustaining a great parish church and family. May the fruit of our faith life con nue to touch lives, both far and near. Fr. Joseph Finding God The splendid magi, all sparkle and dash and solemnity, march right up off the pages of Ma hew s Gospel and into our churches today. Ma hew alone tells us this grand and seduc ve story so that we might see the light and know that the child these magi visited is the fulfillment of prophecy, the king of the world that stretches to the magi s home country and beyond, right down the ages to us. We too see and understand anew. Like the magi, our patron saints for this day, we see in the newborn child the king of the universe and light of the world. Like the magi, we find in ourselves a new faith and a new life. Like them, we return to our home by a new route. We are asked to come away from this fes ve season ourselves renewed and awake to the presence of God among us. The Diocese of Jefferson City will hold a VIRTUS Protec ng God s Children class on Sunday, January 13, 2019 at the Alphonse J. Schwartze Catholic Center, Jefferson City. The Catholic Center is located behind the Cathedral of St. Joseph. The class will be held in Room 306 and will begin at 1:00 p.m. Par cipants must register in advance atwww.virtus.org.
