Prayer Line: Maureen Tansey From the Director of Faith Formation/Pastoral Minister Yes, Jesus came that we might have LIFE and have it more abundantly. That is what we, as a faith community, celebrate today as 22 little children receive the Bread of LIFE for the first time. We sing, Eat the Bread, children, eat the Bread. The LIFE that is given them is exactly what Jesus promised in today s Gospel. He welcomes them to His table, that sacred table where ordinary bread and wine become His ABUNDANT LIFE. The First Communicants, with their families, made beautiful banners which are hung on their pews and which remind each of us to CELEBRATE the holiest of all the sacraments the Eucharist. They also did beautiful work in their Eucharist booklets. We rejoice with and congratulate our First Communicants listed on the front cover of this bulletin. May Jesus who is ABUNDANT LIFE bless each of them and fill their young hearts with love for Him. - S. Kathy Parish Council Vacancies The Parish Council, a representative body of parishioners of the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Parish, exists to counsel the Pastor and to assist him in a spirit of collegiality in implementing decisions which will affirm, nurture and challenge the life of the parish. Listening, visioning, planning, goal setting, evaluating, and promoting of effective communication within the parish community are the major responsibilities of Parish Council members. There will be four vacancies in the Parish Council for the coming year, and if you would like to join in this important leadership committee, please get an application either from the Parish Office or download it from Presentation s website; the last date to submit the application is on May 15, If there are more than four applications, the names will be presented to the current council and the four members will be elected through voting by the current members. Alumni Achievement Award The Presentation Pride Alumni Achievement Award is given to alumni who have made outstanding contributions in one or more of the following ways: Exceptional accomplishment in work career; Exceptional service in local, state, or national affairs; Exceptional service in support of the success of Presentation School. 3 FFF: Family-centered Faith Formation Our sincerest thanks to Father Benny, our two catechists Ms. Jodi Keeley and Ms. Denise Legato and the parents of our First Communicants. Their cooperative efforts in guiding and teaching the children as they prepared for their first full participation in the Eucharist are so deeply appreciated. May Jesus who promised us abundant life bless them generously. - S. Kathy The Two Feet of Social Concerns Justice: We must make our immigrant brothers and sisters feel that they are citizens, that they are like us, children of God, that they are immigrants like us because we are all immigrants moving toward another homeland, and perhaps we will all arrive there. - Pope Francis Charity: For all the donations received this past week, thanks and blessings from our Risen Lord Jesus. Needed: a vacuum cleaner, quarters for laundry, dish and hand soaps, food and gas gift cards. Permanent Adorers Urgently Needed There is an urgent need for the following hours in order to keep Divine Mercy a Perpetual Eucharistic Adoration chapel: Monday Friday Saturday 2 am (No adorer as of June 1st) 1 pm (No adorer) 1 am, 8 am (No adorers) An Adorer s Perspective: I have been going to Adoration for many years. In the beginning I thought about it and I decided it really was only one hour out of the whole week. At first I did have a hard time sitting still for an hour. Gradually I was looking forward to coming to Adoration, and I still do. My time now quickly passes in prayer, silence, and thanksgiving to God for His continuous blessings of love and mercy. Panther Pride Auction Update The 2017 Auction Steering Committee continues to thank everyone who makes this annual fundraiser a continued success. As a reminder, the Panther Pride Auction is both included as well as expected as part of the school s budget. In short, the money raised helps keep our school open. We are pleased to tell you that the 2016 Auction raised almost $7,000 more than the previous year! 2017 will be our 10 th year, and we hope to make it the best, most attended one yet! The theme: There is no place like Presentation. The date of the event is Saturday, November 11, again at the Prom Center. Stewardship Jesus says, I came that they may have life, and have it to the full. Good stewards are grateful for the gift of life and joyfully share their abundance with others.
