It speaks of our Commitment. Years ago they made wine and bread and used this at Eucharist. We offer money to support the works of the Church. The point is we offer all we are, and have. It represents us. He can make the human divine. There is a moment when this is richly demonstrated. The priest pours water into the wine and prays. By the Mystery of this water into wine may we come to share in the divinity of Christ who humbled Himself to share in our humanity. This is an offering the Father cannot refuse. From the words Lift up your hearts! we are journeying to heaven, where we encounter the angels proclaiming Hosanna, Holy, Holy, Holy! Next, the Eucharistic prayer begins the New Covenant! The elements of Bread and Wine become the Body and Blood of Christ. In this new Passover the Priest saying this is my body, my blood he is speaking in the person of Christ, for just as Christ ordained His apostles, so too, are these priests. Coming to a climax in the Doxology the word of Glory in Greek. Through Jesus, With Jesus, and In Jesus...Amen is our response. The Great Amen. Now the rite of Communion begins with the Prayer Our Father. Every word of the prayer confirms what we are doing in this Liturgy. With Communion we renew our family bond in heaven with God; on earth the Church. The Sign of Peace readies us in oneness. The Prayer Lamb of God recalls the Ancient Passover and the granting of mercy, and finally peace is the New Passover. Then Communion when we receive Him; who we praised in the Gloria, proclaimed in the Creed and receive Him until He comes again. Continue...
2 Continued Then almost abruptly we are commissioned to go and live out the mysteries we have celebrated. With this issue we close our reflection on the Mass with you, to enter into Holy Week soon, where we examine the last days of Christ on earth as He celebrated the First Mass. 3 Pope Francis has asked our parish to support the Pontifical Good Friday Collection, which helps Christians in the Holy Land. Your support helps the church minister in parishes, provide Catholic schools and offer religious education. The Pontifical Good Friday Collection also helps to preserve the sacred shrines. The wars, unrest and instability have been especially hard on Christians. In these times of crisis, the Pontifical Good Friday Collection provides humanitarian aid to refugees. When you contribute to the Pontifical Good Friday Collection, you become an instrument of peace and join with Catholics around the world in solidarity with the Church in the Holy Land. PLEASE BE GENEROUS For more information about Christians in the Holy Land, visit Good Samaritans The Captain for the month of April is Emma Cimino. If you need our services for the first time, call Emma at Parish Hosts and Wine In Memory of Deceased Family and Friends Requested by Carmela and Fran We Remember Our Recently Deceased Anna Banach Timothy Myers Legion of Mary Update The weekly meeting for Legion of Mary has been moved from Monday to Tuesday immediately after 9 a.m. daily Mass. They will still meet in the Large Meeting Room in the office building. Blessing of Baskets Holy Saturday Morning 11 a.m. St. John of God Church Bishop Sullivan invites the faithful of the diocese to join him and his priests for the Chrism Mass at 4:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 11, 2017 at St. Agnes Church/Our Lady of Hope Parish, Blackwood. The Chrism Mass is a celebration of the priesthood and the occasion at which the Bishop consecrates the sacred oils used in the sacramental life of the Church. Your presence and prayerful support will be greatly appreciated. Please let Father Soprano know if you will be in attendance, perhaps there would be a car-pool.
4 Asking in Adoration You have shared with a friend, Please pray for and usually, in concern, you do. But here s a story that might boost your Lenten resolve: I had not heard from a young woman in over two years but she texted me and asked to talk. She was going through tough times and felt she was in a dark place. Could I recommend somewhere? I told her I was going to my parish Adoration Chapel and invited her to come along. Although I knew she had never encountered Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament before, I was certain she would be moved by an experience of wonder. We sat for two hours in complete silence. At one point I asked if she was ready to go, she just shook her head no. It was just the two of us in the Chapel, and she could have initiated a conversation with me about her troubles. But, my friend clearly sensed the far more intimate presence of Someone else there who knew her without words. When she finally was ready to leave, she whispered, I will definitely come back! And so she has. Based on Matt 7:7-12 Do not be afraid to unburden your thoughts and concerns to Jesus. He s always listening to you. Saturday, April 8th 3rd Annual Truth and Teens Rally-TNT, will be held at Wildwood Catholic High School, 1500 Central Ave, North Wildwood from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Themes this year are: Life is Precious and Love and Life: The Challenge of Chastity.
