2 Commemoration of Christ s twelve Apostles and thirteenth Apostle - St. Paul Twelve Apostles elected by Our Lord Jesus Christ, were Christ s disciples and first preachers of His doctrine, as well as the Incarnate Christ s witnesses. Jesus called his twelve disciples together and gave them authority to drive out devil spirits and to heal every disease and every sickness. These were the names of the twelve Apostles Simeon (called Peter), Andrew, James, John, Philip, Bartholomew, Thomas, Matthew, James son of Alphaeus, Thaddeus, Simon the Patriot and Judas Iscariot, who betrayed Jesus. Later instead of Judas Iscariot Apostle Matthias was chosen, who was added to the group of eleven apostles. Remaining faithful to Incarnate Christ s last message the apostles went to all peoples everywhere and preached and taught the Commandments of Jesus, baptized them in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, thus becoming the founders of the Christ s Church. One of the greatest preachers of Christ s commandments is Apostle Paul, who is recognized by the Christian Church as the thirteenth Apostle. The section of the Bible called The Acts of the Apostles is dedicated to the apostles activity. And there are references on Apostle Paul s preaching, his person and his activity in his 14 letters addressed to the church communities, established by himself, and individual Christians. Պողոս 13-րդ առաքյալի հիշատակության օր Հիսուս Քրիստոսի ընտրած 12 առաքյալները Քրիստոսի աշակերտներն ու Քրիստոսի վարդապետության առաջին տարածողներն էին, հարուցյալ Քրիստոսի վկաները: «Եվ նա իր մոտ կանչելով իր տասներկու աշակերտներին` նրանց իշխանություն տվեց պիղծ դևերի վրա հանելու դրանք և բժշկելու ամեն ցավ և ամեն հիվանդություն»: Պետրոս, Անդրեաս, Հակոբոս, Հովհաննես, Մատթեոս, Բարդուղիմեոս, Փիլիպոս, Թովմաս, Թադեոս, Հակոբոս ( Ալփյան ), Շմավոն ( Կանանացի ) եւ Հուդա առաքյալներն էին նրանք, որոնցից վերջինը եղավ Հիսուսի մատնիչը: Հետագայում 12 առաքյալների շարքում Հուդայի փոխարեն ընտրվեց Մատաթիա առաքյալը: Հավատարիմ Հարուցյալ Հիսուսի վերջին պատգամին, առաքյալները Հիսուսի պատվիրանները քարոզեցին ու ուսուցանեցին տարբեր ազգերի, «մկրտեցին նրանց Հոր և Որդու և Սուրբ Հոգու անունովե, այսպիսով դառնալով Քրիստոսի եկեղեցու հիմնադիրները: Քրիստոսի պատվիրանների ամենամեծ քարոզիչներից է Պողոս առաքյալը, որին քրիստոնյա եկեղեցին ճանաչում է իբրև 13-րդ առաքյալ: Առաքյալների գործունեությանն է նվիրված Աստվածաշնչի Գործք Առաքելոցը: Իսկ Պողոս առաքյալի քարոզչության, անձի ու գործունեության վավերագրեր են նաեւ Պողոս առաքյալի թղթերը, 14 նամակները, հաստատված եկեղեցական համայնքների ու անհատ քրիստոնյաների կողմից: Հայ Առաքելական Եկեղեցին 12 առաքյալների և 13-րդ առաքյալ ճանաչված Պողոս առաքյալի հիշատակը նշում է միասնաբար Վարդավառից մեկ շաբաթ առաջ, Վարդավառի Բարեկենդանին նախորդող շաբաթ օրը:

3 TODAY S SCRIPTURE READINGS The first reading is from the Letter of Paul to the Romans (11:13-24) Now I am speaking to you Gentiles. Inasmuch then as I am an apostle to the Gentiles, I magnify my ministry in order to make my fellow Jews jealous, and thus save some of them. For if their rejection means the reconciliation of the world, what will their acceptance mean but life from the dead? If the dough offered as first fruits is holy, so is the whole lump; and if the root is holy, so are the branches. But if some of the branches were broken off, and you, a wild olive shoot, were crafted in their place to share the richness of the olive tree, do not boast over the branches. If you do boast, remember it is not you that support the root, but the root that supports you. You will say, Branches were broken off so that I might be grafted in. That is true. They were broken off because of their unbelief, but you stand fast only through faith. So do not become proud, but stand in awe. For if God did not spare the natural branches, neither will he spare you. Note then the kindness and the severity of God: severity toward those who have fallen, but God's kindness to you, provided you continue in His kindness; otherwise you too will be cut off. And even the others, if they do not persist in their unbelief, will be grafted in, for God has the power to graft them in again. For if you have been cut from what is by nature a wild olive tree, and grafted, contrary to nature, into a cultivated olive tree, how much more will these natural branches be grafted back into their own olive tree. The second reading is from the Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Matthew (14:13-21) Now when Jesus heard this, he withdrew from there in a boat to a lonely place apart. But when the crowds heard it, they followed Him on foot from the towns. As he went ashore he saw a great throng; and he had compassion on them, and healed their sick. When it was evening, the disciples came to him and said, This is a lonely place, and the day is now over; send the crowds away to go into the villages and buy food for themselves. Jesus said, They need not go away; you give them something to eat. They said to him, We have only five loaves here and two fishes. And he said, Bring them here to me. Then he ordered the crowds to sit down on the grass; and taking the five loaves and the two fish he looked up to heaven, and blessed, and broke and gave the loaves to the disciples, and the disciples gave them to the crowds. And they all ate and were satisfied. And they took up twelve baskets full of the broken pieces left over. And those who ate were about five thousand men, besides women and children.

4 High School Graduates of 2018 Anne-Sophie Baroutjian the daughter of Lena and George Baroutjian graduated from Washingtonville High School on June 21, Anne- Sophie will be attending University at Albany - State University of New York. College/University Samantha Cachoian, the daughter of proud parents Leslie & John Cachoian, graduated from Manhattan College on May 18, 2018 with a BS in Civil Engineering with a minor in Environmental Engineering. She has accepted a position with NV5 Engineering in NYC and will be embarking on her new career this summer. George Krikorian, the son of Van and Priscilla Krikorian, graduated from The George Washington University on May 20th, with honors in Philosophy and a double major in International Affairs and Philosophy B.A. degree. He also completed the Middlebury College Spanish language institute school during his undergraduate years. George is the younger sibling of Ani, Sarah, and Lena. Joyfully, he will be attending law school in the fall. Lucine Janjigian, the daughter of Vahan and Noone Janjigian, graduated from Indiana University with a B.S. in Apparel Merchandising.

This is a wonderful way to honor a special occasion, milestone event, marriage, new baby, in tribute to, in memory of, etc. Each leaf is 2 x 3 and can be engraved with 20 characters on each of four lines. The cost per leaf is $500. (payable to: St. Gregory the Enlightener Armenian Church) For each leaf sold the Parish Council will donate $10 to the ACYOA Juniors. May God touch His faithful servants with His healing hand, and grant them good health & recovery.
