We are not random accidents. We are special creations and wonderfully made. Each of us brings a unique twist to the one shot at life that we are given. As people of faith and children of God, we are asked to use our specialness to announce God's kingdom. Each of us reveals a unique part of God's face. Each day presents opportunities to communicate our faith to others and to reveal God's mercy. We have the means to point the way to Christ. How can we show Jesus to others today? Liturgical Publications Inc. THE 44TH ANNUAL DAY OF PRAYER FOR LIFE will be held this Wednesday, June 27th, at St. Francis Church in Teutopolis. Opening Mass will be at 8:00 am Mass, followed by Eucharistic Exposition and Prayer throughout the day. Monsignor Stuart Swetland will be the honored guest presider for the 7:30 pm closing Mass. During the day, the Blessed Sacrament will be exposed, and everyone is encouraged to stop in and pray. Members of the Charleston Catholic Community are scheduled to pray from 5:00-6:00 pm. Let us ask for His mercy for all the injustices against human life. All those attending Mass are also invited to stay for the Installation Ceremony. These groups do so much for our parish, please show your support for the officers as they take on the leadership roles. NEXT WEEKEND, June 30 & July 1, our diocese will take up the Peter's Pence Collection, which provides Pope Francis with the funds he needs to carry out his charitable works around the world. The proceeds benefit our brothers and sisters on the margins of society, including victims of war, oppression, and disasters. Please be generous. The St. Charles Borromeo Youth Group will be presenting a program about the Saints for students Pre K through 6 th grade. Each morning, July 9 th through the 12 th, from 9:00 11:00 am, students will have the opportunity to learn more about the Saints through study, games, art, and music. 3 The Nativity of John the Baptist Parents, talk to your child about the fact that the Nativity of Jesus is not the only nativity we celebrate. Born six months before our Lord, Saint John the Baptist was the son of Zechariah and Elizabeth, our Lady's cousin. He was the last and greatest of the prophets. As the forerunner of the Savior, he had the mission of preparing the Jews for the coming of Christ. When Jesus had come, Saint John bore witness to Him before his own followers and encouraged them to follow Him. R.C.I.A. The Gospel tells us that we are all to evangelize. One great way is to invite anyone who has expressed questions about our faith and our Church to contact the office. We are not currently having classes, but Fr. Hyland and Deacon Jeff are more than willing to meet and answer any questions. We will start with classes soon. SERVERS It is not uncommon for a parish to have adult servers. As we are currently experiencing a shortage of servers for the Mass, we are asking for adult volunteers to help fulfill this role. This ministry is vital and a necessary ministry of and for the Church. Please contact the office if you might be interested in helping. COURSES FOR ALL CATHOLICS - University of Dayton Online Learning - Sign up for the online courses through the Virtual Learning Community for Faith Formation (VLCFF), a program of the Institute for Pastoral Initiatives at the University of Dayton. These adult faith formation courses support the Church's catechetical ministry and are for all Catholics. This means that you can deepen your faith at a time and place convenient to you via the internet. Courses may be taken for undergraduate credit (for an additional fee) and all courses qualify for credit in our diocesan Catechist Formation Process. Registration for Cycle 5 opened May 30, 2018 and closes July 11, The courses run July 15 Aug. 18, 2018 at a discounted cost. POPE S CHOIR FROM SISTINE CHAPEL coming to Fox Theatre, St. Louis, MO July 9, The Pope s Choir from the Sistine Chapel is making their first US tour and will come to the Fabulous Fox in St Louis on Monday, July 9 th at 7:00 pm. SUNDAY SCRIPTURE QUESTIONS TO PONDER Afraid and amazed. The gospels from both the vigil and the day tell us not to fear. An unnamed angel stands near the father of John the Baptist saying, Do not be afraid. At his somewhat surprising birth and naming, all were amazed. Why? Because the hand of God is at work! How will I lean into God s hand this week? How will I trust in God s good mercy toward me? Let me sing Psalm 139 (or O God, You Search Me by Bernadette Farrell) all week. 4

RELIGIOUS EDUCATION CLASSES: Religious education classes for grades kindergarten through 12th are offered on Sundays and Wednesdays during the regular school year. In addition to these classes, parent sessions are also required for the reception of the sacraments of First Reconciliation and First Communion. Dates will be announced.
