Please bring your favorite finger food to share. If you have pictures of Sr. Carol that you would like to share, please send to Gayle Hilzendager at ghilzendager@aol.com or text to (843) Father s Day Prayer God our Father, in your wisdom and love you made all things. Bless those fathers who have taken upon themselves the responsibility of parenting. Bless those who have lost a spouse to death or divorce, who are parenting their children alone. Strengthen them by your love that they may become the loving, caring persons they are meant to be. Grant this through Christ our Lord. ~ Amen Good Neighbors Our neighboring churches have asked that we please refrain from parking on their properties during services. They each are happy to report an increase in attendance in both their schools and worship services and need all the spaces they have to accommodate their members. We are all too aware that our parking lots are too small but, unfortunately, we have no where to expand. Therefore we need to better utilize on street parking, even if it means a few extra steps. In Christian charity, we should always respect the property of all our neighbors and be sure we do not block their driveways or park on their lawns. They each thank us, in advance, for our courtesy and for our shared concern about these matters. Prayers for Mother Emanuel June 17, marks the three year anniversary of the massacre at Emanuel AME Church in Charleston. As our community continues to heal from this tragedy, Bishop Guglielmone asks the Catholic faithful to pray the rosary on that day in remembrance of the victims, the survivors and their families. Mother Emanuel: You, who authored courageous slave rebellions, who suffered and survived wretched bigotry, burnings and earthquake, You, who worshipped underground when black churches were outlawed Dear Mother Emanuel, in this day of grievous heartache we wrap you in bands of prayer. We pour out upon your broken hearts the healing balm of Gilead. You, whose shepherd has been taken from you, whose building has become a tomb, whose children are terrified: We stand with you. We weep with you. We rage for you. We keep vigil with you for your beloved dead. May the God of Moses and Miriam, of Jesus and the Mary s, anoint you with healing, furnish you with hope and, one day, some day, mend your torn hearts and wipe the tears from your swollen eyes. God help us! ~ Amen. Catholic Radio in South Carolina Bringing Christ to People and People to Christ. Catholic Radio is the voice of evangelization. WLTQ 730- AM in the Lowcountry needs you! They are looking for volunteers to help with outreach into parishes and communities. For just a few hours a month from home or through your parish. Contact Frank Dirks at or dirksjf@comcast.net.

Scripture Reflection e have stated previously that St. W Paul had a way with words. He was able to take a very complex concept and summarize it in a few words and phrases. In today s Second Reading from Second Corinthians, Paul says simply, we walk by faith, not by sight. (2 Corinthians 5: 7) That statement by Paul has inspired hymns and treatises. Yet, it is in reality what we are all about as Catholics and Christians. There is no question that it is one of the most difficult notions for us as Catholics and Christians to grasp and accept. The word translated as walk can also be translated as live. Thus, we could say We live by faith, and not by sight. This was a popular and consistent theme for St. Paul, his point being that we need to build our lives around the eternal prospects, not those of this world. In this society things seem so important to us. However, the truth is that they have no eternal significance. That is an ongoing message in the concept of stewardship basically who we are and how we live is more important than what we own and what we may appear to be. That can be tough for us. The late Billy Graham, who died earlier this year, was fond of saying, My home is in Heaven. I am just traveling through this world. St. Paul would agree with that attitude.
