4 SERVICE Altar Guild Help clean the church pews, pictures, brass and areas that require cleaning Contact: Collection Counters Assist in counting and reporting weekly collections. Teams rotate. Contact: Dianna Mahoney Finance Council Meet quarterly to assist the pastor in setting the parish budget, establishing goals for growth, and providing financial accountability. Members are appointed by the pastor and finance experience is required. Contact: Linda Art Food Pantry - Collect food from parishioners, and distribute food on Tuesdays from 10:00 to 12:00 noon in Madden Hall. Contact: Sister Carol Gnau, Kairos Christian faith-based ministry that addresses spiritual needs of incarcerated persons. Contact: Ginny Peck ginny@mbinc.biz Mentor Couple Catholic married couples that have been married five years or longer, living the Sacrament of Matrimony. Will mentor engaged couples in their preparation for the Sacrament. Meet about five times with the couple in your home for 1.5~2 hours per session. As Pastor of St. John the Beloved, I would like to welcome you and invite you to become an integral part of what I find to be a truly unique parish. Some families are new to the area, some are transferring from our sister parishes and others are returning home after a period away from the church. Whatever the circumstance, we want you to know that at St. John the Beloved, all are truly welcome! You will hear the word stewardship used often at St. John the Beloved. Our Parish was founded on the principles of Christian stewardship which fosters the belief that God has given each of us many blessings, and we can return to the Lord a portion of our time, talent, and treasure in gratitude for all that we have received. We share our time and talent with family, friends, and community. At St. John the Beloved s, we offer a variety of opportunities for you to deepen the quality of your personal relationships through participation in ministries, activities and services. We strive to be faithful companions on your stewardship journey. Just as a three legged stool cannot stand with one leg missing; we cannot separate our time and talent from our treasure. Returning our first fruits financially is as important as giving of our time and talent. Therefore, we ask that you, as a family, pray and discern the level of your participation in parish life. In addition, there are several special appeals which ask for our support each year. We truly believe that, as we give, so shall it be returned to us, tenfold and more. St. John the Beloved is a warm and dynamic community where everyone is welcome. We continue to grow and add several new members each week. The spirit of hospitality is reflected in our exciting and inspirational liturgies as well as in our ministries of Christian formation and charitable service. 6 FORMATION Adult Bible Study Study and share gospel and spiritual themes in an interactive group. Meets at 10:00 am or 7:00 pm for one session in the spring and one session in the fall. Classes are on Tuesdays with two class offerings: 4:30-5:45 pm and 6:15-7:30 pm. Meets at 7:00 pm in Madden Hall with a meal and continues for two hours. Next session will be advertised in the bulletin. HOSPITALITY Bereavement Support Provide food for the bereaved after funeral masses, and call members on the prayer tree to pray for the deceased. Teams rotate. Contact: Sister Carol Gnau Greeters Welcome parishioners and visitors to Mass. Hand out worship aids before Mass and bulletins after Mass. Youth and adult volunteers needed.
