This is especially important if you wish to be a sponsor for Confirmation or a Godparent for Baptism. It takes 6 months of attending Mass to be eligible for both of these privileges. L" M#: Lazarus Ministry contacts and helps families of deceased parishioners. Providing greeters at funeral liturgies, preparing meals and house sitting are several ways parishioners assist families. Also, a Mass of Remembrance is held every November for those deceased that year. M# S$: Parishioners who are homebound are visited on the first Friday of each month by our Deacons & Religious. If possible, the fast on Good Friday is continued until the Easter Vigil (on Holy Saturday night) as the "paschal fast" to honor the suffering and death of the Lord Jesus, and to prepare ourselves to share more fully and to celebrate more readily his Resurrection.

FIFTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME FEBRUARY 7, 2016 Dear Friends of St. Ann School, Seventh and Eighth graders took their mid term exam in religion and shared one foundational question regarding our faith.

Scripture is part of all our religion classes. Students are familiar with bible stories and the parables of Jesus.

But our faith is also based on traditions. One such tradition was celebrated this week. Deacon Conrad visited each class and blessed the throats of the children through the intercession of St. Blasé.

It also gives our children a positive interaction with an ordained man of God from our Church, the deacon. Traditions are passed down from generation to generation.

We maintain the prayer life traditions of our faith. We support the sacramental life of the Church. I had the privilege of witnessing the reception of this blessing.

Joy radiated from their faces. Thank you to each of you who support our school. You are living examples of our faith.

6 FIFTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME FEBRUARY 7, 2016 Dear Friends of St. Ann School, Seventh and Eighth graders took their mid term exam in religion and shared one foundational question regarding our faith. Our Catholic faith comes from scripture and tradition. This traces all the way back to the New Testament and separates us from our Protestant brothers and sisters in the faith. Scripture is part of all our religion classes. Students are familiar with bible stories and the parables of Jesus. They are taught how to look up passages, how to pray using scripture, and how to use scripture to guide their life and form themselves after the image and likeness of Christ. But our faith is also based on traditions. One such tradition was celebrated this week. Deacon Conrad visited each class and blessed the throats of the children through the intercession of St. Blasé. This tradition reinforces our belief in community of Saints, the intercessory power of saints, and in the concept of passing on of blessings. It also gives our children a positive interaction with an ordained man of God from our Church, the deacon. Traditions are passed down from generation to generation. Sometimes we forget the meaning of the tradition. A Catholic School is an important place of instruction in the tradition and the experience of the tradition. We maintain the prayer life traditions of our faith. We support the sacramental life of the Church. I had the privilege of witnessing the reception of this blessing. Faith shown in the eyes of the children from Pre K to the Eighth grade. Respect for the office of the deacon was visible. Children waited their turn with a sense anticipation. Joy radiated from their faces. Thank you to each of you who support our school. You are living examples of our faith. The faith and traditions that you value are secure in the souls of those attending the school. It is the same passing on of the faith that occurred from the time of Peter, James, Paul, and John. The application process is now online through FACTS Grant & Aid Assessment.
