1 OPENING SENTENCES NOVEMBER 17, 2013 SERVICE FOR THE LORD S DAY OAK HILL SUNDAY 8:30 and 11:00 AM GATHERING VOLUNTARY INTROIT (11:00) Adagio We Are Blessed Felix Mendelssohn Andrea Ramsey *CALL TO WORSHIP Sam Cooper Leader: They who wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength. People: They shall mount up with wings like eagles, Leader: They shall run and not be weary, People: They shall walk and not faint. *PROCESSIONAL HYMN 464 Joyful, Joyful, We Adore Thee WELCOME AND OPPORTUNITIES FOR DISCIPLESHIP MINUTE FOR MISSION CALL TO CONFESSION HYMN TO JOY Todd Jones Jennifer Hinote Sam Cooper PRAYER OF CONFESSION Holy and merciful God, in Your sacred presence we confess our sinfulness, our shortcomings, and all of our offenses against You. You alone search our hearts, and You alone know how often we have sinned in wandering from Your ways, in wasting Your gifts, in forgetting the difference Your grace and love could make in our lives. Have mercy upon us, O Lord, for when we are honest, we are ashamed of what we have done with what we have been given, and deeply sorry for all we have done to displease You. Forgive us our sins, and help us to live in the light of truth, so that we may walk in newness of life, for the sake of Jesus Christ our Savior. Amen.

3 OFFERTORY (8:30) My Redeemer William Billings My Redeemer, let me be quite happy at Thy feet; Still to know myself and Thee, be this my bittersweet. Look upon my infant state and with a father s yearning bless: Don t Thy ransomed child forget, nor leave me in distress. I have foolishly abused my Savior s bleeding love; All Thy gifts, my God, misused, when by temptation drove: Justly I deserve to be forsaken by my Lord and God; Yet shall justice plead for me, for whom Thou shedst Thy Blood. Thy blest smiles, my gracious Lord, shall cheer my drooping heart; I m instructed in Thy word, that Thou unchanging art; Draw me to the depth profound of all Thy sorrows, blood and sweat, Pressing on, through every wound, unto Thy mercy seat. There, reclining on Thy breast, the eternal Sabbath find; Proving in Thee perfect rest to my poor laboring mind; Waiting till my Lord I see and be like Him forever pure, At the heavenly Jubilee, this bliss to me is sure. (11:00) The Call of Wisdom Will Todd Lord of wisdom, Lord of truth, Lord of justice, Lord of mercy; walk beside us down the years till we see you in your glory. Striving to attain the heights, turning in a new direction, entering a lonely place, welcoming a friend or stranger. I am here, I am with you. I have called: do you hear me? I am here, I am with you. Silver is of passing worth, gold is not of constant value, jewels sparkle for a while; what you long for is not lasting. Rulers govern under me with my insight and my wisdom. Those who know me know my love; those who seek me find their answer. God the Father and the Son, Holy Spirit co-eternal. Glory be ascribed to you, now and to the end of ages. *PRESENTATION AND RESPONSE Doxology OLD HUNDREDTH *PRAYER OF DEDICATION SENDING FORTH *HYMN OF COMMITMENT 447 Lead On, O King Eternal *CHARGE AND BENEDICTION LANCASHIRE Todd Jones *CONGREGATIONAL RESPONSE (8:30) AR HYD Y NOS Go, My Children, with My Blessing Go, my children, with my blessing, never alone. Waking, sleeping, I am with you, you are my own, In my love s baptismal river I have made you mine forever. Go, my children, with my blessing, you are my own. Text by Jaroslav J. Vajda 1983 by Concordia Publishing House. Reproduced with permission under license number 04:09-49B. *CHORAL RESPONSE (11:00) The Lord Bless You and Keep You Peter C. Lutkin
