This ministry is offered during both 8:30 and 11:00 worship services and meets in Room CW-110, which is located in the Children s Ministry wing. Please reference the worship bulletin to know when to exit the sanctuary. We ask that children who are attending for the first time be accompanied by a parent. Please visit the church website to enroll your child in YC&W. Contact Deb O Brien (dobrien@fpcnashville.org) with questions. A CONGREGATIONAL MEETING has been called for Sunday, June 22 immediately following both the 8:30 and 11:00 A.M. services. The purpose of the meeting meeting is twofold: 1) To change the terms of call of the Rev. Mark Devries from Associate Pastor for Youth and Their Families to a new position of Associate Pastor for New Ministries, and to grant him a leave of absence for one year beginning on August 1, 2014 and ending on July 31, 2015, with no remuneration and 2) To act upon the recommendation of the Associate Pastor Nominating Committee for the calling of a new Associate Pastor for Youth and Their Families. MUSIC NOTES First Presbyterian will be home to a great variety of music this June. On Sunday, June 15, the Parish Choir will sing at the 11 o clock service. This choir, open to any who wish to participate, will meet at 10 o clock in the choir room to learn a piece to sing in worship. Please do consider participating, whether you ve sung for years or simply think you might like to try something new. The following Sunday, June 22, the Tennessee Governor s School for the Arts Choir will sing at the 11 o clock service. Led by Raphael Bundage, this select group of high school students will perform a variety of sacred pieces, greatly enriching our worship. Finally, on Sunday, June 29, the Nashville Pipes & Drums will present a brief concert in the sanctuary, immediately after the 11 o clock service. The group features some of the finest bagpipers and drummers in the region, and their program is not to be missed! MOTHER AND INFANT QUIET ROOM Mothers of infants who need a quiet place for nursing or calming babies are welcome to use the Quiet Room. An audio feed of the worship service is provided. Check in with Karen Fitts in the Nursery to see if the Quiet Room is available for your use. A/V OF WORSHIP AVAILABLE Worship service in Courtenay Hall has the audio-video transfer for each of the Sunday morning worship services. OFFICER PRAYER TIME Prayer requests for our congregation can be submitted to the church officers by filling out prayer request cards and depositing them in the Prayer Request Boxes, located in the narthex on the southeast wall and at the Welcome Center. We are truly grateful for their generosity. If you have not yet made a commitment, and would like to do so, please complete one of the Milestones & Cornerstones Commitment Cards found in the church pew or contact the church Finance department ( ). Sign up Online (fpcnashville.org). Questions? Contact Shannon Parsons ( ). THE 5:30 This service meets on Sunday evenings in The Gathering Place. Follow us on STUDY/DISCUSSION GROUPS GOD IS NOT DEAD. NEITHER IS MAN. A SPECIAL SUMMER SUNDAY SCHOOL Two movies coincidentally aired this spring: God Is Not Dead and Heaven Is for Real. This summer in the Logos Sunday School class, Associate Pastor Stuart Gordon will lead a discussion of the significance of their coincidence. What is in the air today, that Christians are making movies that defend the existence of God and the reality of eternal life for humanity? Are these two things related? Is atheism breeding a loss of faith in humanity? What witness does the church make to an age that is losing its faith that life has any order or purpose or meaning? The Logos Class meets every Sunday from 10:00 to 10:40 in Stanford Chapel. God Is Not Dead. Neither Is Man will be the subject beginning July 6. SUMMER SUNDAY SCHOOL SPECIAL: THE SPIRITUAL EVOLUTION OF ABRAHAM LINCOLN Travel along with Chuck Grice in an exploration of the speeches of America s 16th president, which clearly reflect a Biblical way of thinking. The class begins at 10:00 A.M. in the Stanford Chapel, June 15, 22 and 29.
