2 Pastor Elise s Crazy Love Notes (title to be explained later) As it is written, how beautiful are the feet of those who bring Good News. Romans 10:15 On the day before Thanksgiving 2010, when I was 16 weeks pregnant with our oldest son, Tyndall, I went into labor. Two amazing high-risk Obstetricians took me into emergency surgery and worked for nearly 4 hours to try and save our baby. Everyone did everything they could do, but nothing was working to reverse the labor process. The doctors could actually see Tyndall s tiny feet furiously kicking as they worked to put him safely back in the womb, and that moment captured their hearts. They wanted to do more, but there wasn t more they could do. I was told that in the next little while they would have to deliver Tyndall and give Jeffrey and me time to be with him, but that he wouldn t likely survive long. I couldn t even begin to imagine that reality, so I just kept praying the Lord s Prayer over and over, and the nurses and doctors joined with me. They said, as doctors we ve done everything we know how to do, the only thing we can do now is pray. So, we did, and suddenly Tyndall s tiny feet started to retract back into the womb on their own! The entire operating room erupted in praise and thanksgiving, and everything kicked into high gear again. That day before Thanksgiving ended with a miracle, as I went to sleep in my hospital room treasuring the Good News that I was still pregnant with our precious baby boy! And from that day forward the words of Romans 10:15 have played in my head and filled my heart during difficult seasons. Tyndall s tiny feet were beautiful, and so were the feet of all those who worked to save him. Everyone there that day expressed that what they witnessed with Tyndall was absolutely the Hand of God working in a miraculous way! And we agree! Feet are not usually described as beautiful, but in Romans 10:15 and Isaiah 52:7, they are. Not because of their color or shape, their smell or texture, but because the feet have the ability to bring the Good News of God s Gospel to the ends of the earth. As a family we ve been navigating another difficult season in life, as we grieve the loss of my Daddy in January But Good News has come to us again through beautiful feet, YOURS! Your open arms embrace of our family, your open door to the home you call Redeemer, and your deep and abiding faithfulness in sharing the love of Christ through word and service is indeed Good News. As Winnie the Pooh once said, As soon as I saw you, I knew a grand adventure was about to happen! So, do me a favor, take off your shoes and wiggle your toes. Let those feet be free! Because together, you and I have a new road to walk, a new adventure to take and the Good News of the Gospel to share. Redeemer Lutheran Church, you ve got beautiful feet so let me see them! Peace, hope and the crazy love of Jesus be with you all, Tyndall s Feet Pastor Elise Stringer PE Page 1
