XCIX SEPTEMBER, 2013 NO 7 Potentate s Column Still much to do and everyone is doing their part Well summer is almost over and we can get back to normal routines, having fun and helping kids. At least that is what the calendar indicates; however, the temps still say summer Stephen C. Jones is in full force. I know your Divan enjoyed the weather in Waco for the TSMPA Obstacle competition. Not really it gets hot on the tarmac in August for spectators and participants! This year has gone by very quickly as all Past Potentates have told me it would. We still have much to do though. Noble Robert Lee will hopefully have had a very successful dinner and gun drawing on August 24. I know he and his Lady Linda have worked hard to make it a success. And, Robert is up to an elephant s trunk, working to make sure we have a very good circus. Noble Mike Wallach and his Lady Susan are working to have a ladies night during our September business meeting. Nobles, watch your credit cards! I know my Lady Deb is looking forward to the evening. What could be better than dinner with your Noble and jewelry! Chalk Mountain Fun Run 3rd Saturday of September SHRINE HOSPITAL BOARD MEMBERS William Risk, M.D., P.P. Get the word out Nobles, because we want a big turn out for our Ceremonial. As I ve said all year, membership is key to our survival. Visit your Blue Lodges and tell them about the Shrine, our activities and our Hospitals. Noble Phil Trew and his Lady Sarah are doing a great job also. We still have a few Past Potentates to honor with a hospital endowment. See Phil for details. Nobles all, please plan on attending our business meeting on September 12. Many of you have had questions on the situation in Arkansas and the decision made at Imperial this year. Some of you may have heard wrong information and I want to clarify what transpired and why. Bring your questions. Your Divan will attempt to answer them all. Remember, you will only receive what you partake in. Get active in the best Fraternal Organization in the world. Have Fun. Help Kids. 6 MYSTIC WHEELS The Mystic Wheels had another clean sweep at TSMPA Obstacle Course competition in Waco. We had a group of 14 riders competing on the 400 ft. long course a combination of tight, decreasing radius turns, slaloms, and carousels. The Mystic Wheels captured FIRST PLACE as a team and our own Past Potentate Illustrious Sir Rick Evans captured the Low Individual Time with an elapsed time of 29.5 seconds! Along with that, our kids and ladies each won their class! Clean Sweep! We also want to thank Illustrious Sir Steve Jones and the entire Divan for their support and attendance. That would be Illustrious Sir Steve cone Jones, Robert cone killer Lee, Michael hunk a burnin clutch Wallach, Harold wrong way Benefield, and Phil hey, this thing is fast Trew great fun and great job to all! Visit the MYSTIC WHEELS FACEBOOK page; more information there. So, Noble, are you looking for a new unit home or your first unit home? Check out the Mystic Wheels. You will find a very family oriented group with the ladies and kids at all our events and we have a lot of kids. We ride inexpensive open wheel go karts, and you will find us very involved in all temple and blue lodge activities. Call James Johnson , Brett Wiesner , or Tommy Boldin for information and a visit. Come see why so many have made the Mystic Wheels their unit home. Still the LARGEST and friendliest motorized unit in Texas! Brett Wiesner Moslah History As part of our Centennial Celebration we will publish a very nice hard bound book of Moslah's first hundred years. It will feature lots of pictures and stories about our organization, our people and our units, clubs and associations. Pre publication price is $ The final published price will be $ or more, so order yours now and save. To order, you may send your check for $85.00 to the Moslah Office. or call with your credit card information at CAR-VETTES WE DID IT!!! The Car Vettes won not only the 1st place trophy with the 8 man team (with 4 new drivers) at TSA in Wichita Falls but ALSO the 2nd place trophy for the 4 man team. Both are in Class VII. Congratulations to our team on a great year. All those practices did pay off. Guy Tyra did an outstanding job as our Colonel this year. Thanks Guy for all your hard work and leadership. This was quite an accomplishment given the fact that yours truly competed with a broken toe received right before driving on the pad. But that s another story. Another special thanks to Captain Cecil LeMond for his leadership in leading us in the drill. A special thanks to VP and entertainment chairman Dick Ensminger for an outstanding job managing the hospitality room and keeping our Diet Cokes iced down. Moslah dominated in almost every category. Congratulations to the Mystic Wheels who also won the 1st and 2nd place trophies in Class VI and the Motor Corp for 2nd place in the 2 wheel category. Congrats to ALL of the other Moslah units! We all did Moslah proud. I would like to congratulate three special people. Congratulations to Rick Landers for having a very successful year as President of International Association of Shrine Motor Corp, Jim Godsey who has been elected President of Texas Shrine Clown Association and to Margaret Ann Risk as she is installed as Supreme Queen Daughters of the Nile this month. The Car Vettes wish you great success in your year! Not only did the Car Vettes win 1st and 2nd place in our class at TSA in June, we won 1st place at TSMPA Obstacle in August with Colonel Guy Tyra having the fastest time in our class. Congratulations to all. This was done in the absence of our former champion Captain Cecil LeMond who is recovering from a total knee replacement he had 5 weeks ago. Cecil did comment that as soon as Colonel Guy (Little Hitler) Tyra was ready to start practice he would be ready. We have no doubts about that. We split up and participated in two parades on July 4th. We rode in the Granbury parade and the Ridglea Country Club subdivision parade. Even though it was very hot, we all had a great time. Then on July 13 we rode in the Crowley Independence Day Freedom Parade. Again it was hot, but that is Texas in July. Even though the Temple has been dark, the Car Vettes have been staying busy. Congratulations also go to Guy Tyra and Jerry Knott who both have earned their 40 year Masonic Blue Lodge pins. The circus will be here before we know it, so let s all get those ads turned in. The Car Vettes are prepared to help Circus Chairman Robert Lee in any way we can. We are sure it will be another great and successful circus. Jerry Knott, IN GOD WE TRUST 6
