1 FORT WORTH, TEXAS VOLUME XCXI May 2015 Potentate s Column Where it All Fits Together The April through June period of each year is my favorite time of the Shrine year. It is where our mission all comes together and this year it is coming together again. Fun, fellowship and philanthropy all coalesce. Remembering that the Shrine was founded as a place where Masons could gather for fun and D. Michael Wallach Potentate social activities, this time of year satisfies our roots: Margaritaville Party (April 18), Community Band Concert (April 26), unit, club and association parties, competition practices and Texas Shrine Association convention (June 3-6). We also do some serious hospital fund raising this time of year: store front and street corner collections (May 1-2) and the new Food Truck Festival (May 30-31). These fund raisers also provide great opportunities for fun and fellowship for Shriners, their ladies, families and friends. Your Divan, Temple committees and unit, club and association officers are working hard to make your experience in Moslah fun and rewarding. However, the person who holds the key to your satisfaction is you. The only way to know the great experience that Moslah Shrine offers is to jump in and be part of it. An old Masonic invitation once said 2 be 1, ask 1. My invitation to you as a Shriner is U r 1, b 1! I look forward to seeing you at all of these great upcoming events. Let s keep Moslah the greatest Temple in the Great State of Texas, and help make some miracles happen along the way! Yours in the faith! Michael Wallach Potentate In this Issue... Carothers Food Truck Festival at the Temple Nobles and ladies: the First Annual Food Truck Festival sponsored by the North Texas Food Truck Asociation is coming to the temple on May 30 and 31. The location will be the north parking lot, and the hours will be 11:00 to 8:00 on Saturday, and 11:00 to 7:00 on Sunday. We will need assistance from nobles and ladies at the entrances to the festival, as well as selling t-shirts and giving tours of the temple. Most of all, we want you to come out in full force and bring your family and friends for what promises to be a great time. As of this date, we re planning on having approximately 10 food trucks, plus music and vendors. This is a hospital fundraiser; therefore, the more people who show up, the more money will be raised for the hospitals. I will be in touch with the units, clubs and associations to shore up the volunteers needed. Thanks for all you do for Moslah!! 7 Car-Vettes Since the last newsletter the Car-Vettes have been busy. We had 8 cars participating in the world famous Pickle Parade in Mansfield on March 14. We met several brothers from the Mansfield Masonic lodge. Some even drove a little yellow car in the parking lot prior to the parade. We extended a big welcome and told them we would love for them to join us at Moslah. Practice has gotten off to a slow start due to this crazy weather and commitments of drivers. However there is no doubt that Colonel Cecil LeMond will have everyone ready for TSA. We plan on bringing home the first place trophy this year. Congratulations to everyone who was involved in the Easter Egg hunt held on March 28. Another big success for Moslah. We are preparing to ride in the Medal of Honor parade on April 11 and attending the Margaritaville party on April 18. Also, we can t leave out our store front collections on May 1 and 2. Please keep our President Tom Smith in your prayers. Tom recently had a stroke. He is home resting and recuperating. If anyone is interested in joining in on the fun and fellowship, contact Cecil LeMond at or any Car-Vette member. Jerry Knott Moslah Car-Vetts at the Gainesville, Texas Medal of Honor parade in Gainesville on Saturday, April 22, The city of Gainesville holds this parade every year to celebrate Americas living Medal Of Honor veterans. This year there were 19 Medal of Honor vets. present. The ladies will be meeting after dinner at the Business Meeting on May 14, We are honored to have Carmen Baker speak to us about the work she is involved in at the Houston Hospital. We will be putting together bags of items for the kids at the Hospital as well as the outreach locations. This is a major undertaking and she needs all of our help. You do not have to bring anything, however any donations for the purchase of items will be appreciated. We hope that you will be able to attend. We will have snacks and drinks and I know that you will find this to be truly rewarding and also a lot of fun. Dietrich A. Block Tracey Cryer Phillip D. Harber Christopher J. Rompe Randall J.
