We were called to order by Pres. Dave Darnell who led us in the pledge of allegiance. Since our Secretary was absent the July minutes report will be postponed until the next meeting in September. There were 26 members in attendance along with 3 visitors as per the sign-up sheet. Thanks to the snack patrol for bringing in the goodies that make a nice treat during break. It was accepted and passed by vote. Rick also had some questions about the requirements on length of time to keep some of the Association records, particularly in respect to the IRS and our C-7 classification. Also, old membership applications, member lists, etc. And should these requirements be so stated in the Association Constitution? Further discussion will be needed. Secretary/Newsletter Amy Goulter-Allen littlebiscuit_2000@yahoo.com Larry C. was absent so there was no claims report given. But he did call Jim P. to say that work assessments were sent in and all seems o.k. Due to Larry s surgery he did not make it the outing at the Silver Dollar claim. Did anyone go? Most members at tonight s meeting thought the roads and access would be shut down anyway due to the extreme fire danger. Treasurer/Membership Rick Stepper The past outing held at Don E's home had a fairly good turn-out. He showed us his VAST collections of rocks, did some cutting and polishing for us and explained to me the difference between a geode and a thunder egg (though I'm still confused). He is a wealth of knowledge of all things rock and their origins. That was followed by a great pot-luck. For Government Affairs Mike H. reported that two very big Associations sent letters to the D.F.&W. With a 122 pages to report on the effects of mining to fish. The study showed NO ill effects along with certain restrictions. As of this report there is no new progress in regards to the Rhinehart court case. Mike also brought in a couple of rock samples from the Vincent Creek area and a rock imbedded with Moonstone, some of which he polished up. These he found at the beach. Also, Tom Q, stated that he is trying to get as many Associations as he can to meet with Rich Engstrom. Minutes page 1 DancingDolphin@live.com

As a reminder to all members at the October meeting nominations for next year s officers will be taken. So please, give this some thought as to who you would like to serve on the board. You can certainly nominate yourself or volunteer for any of the committees. Also in October is the committee meeting to set up next year s calendar of events. Think of things you would like to see or do as a group and relate that to any of our board members. O.K.? 5 I just checked DEQ s web site to renew my 600 WPCF high banking permit. Their web site shows this permit is not ready yet and is being revised. I would bet the Environmental folks are involved with DEQ to make this permit even more restrictive than the current 9 page permit that expires January The current 600 WPCF permit requires you to renew your current permit 60 days before it expires in In the past their mining 600 WPCF permit was a free permit and DEQ still shows it is a free permit on their web site so it will be interesting to see if they keep it free.
