1 Vol. XX Issue 6 JOSEPH P. KENNEDY, JR. AMERICAN LEGION POST Wadsworth Blvd. Broomfield, CO Telephone: (303) JUNE 2018 NEWSLETTER COMMANDER S CORNER Walt Lee Commander Yahoo!! Springtime in the Rockies!! I love this time of the year. It's when I can take off all the layers of clothing I've had on for the last couple of months and bask in the sunshine of Colorado. Last Membership meeting (May 8th) we conducted our elections for the upcoming year 2018/2019. Your new Officers are: Walt Lee, Commander Greg Clucas, Sr. Vice Commander Benjamin Cotto, Jr. Vice Commander Larry Starley, Adjutant Karen Schwall-Meyer, Finance Officer Dave Welch, Service Officer Bob Martin, Chaplain Heather Lockhart, Historian Mike Vasquez, Sgt at Arms Ava Barden, Legion at Large Please get to know your Post Officers and thank them for taking the responsibility of their job. I'd like to thank Karen for her donation and the planting of the flowers in the pots on the patio. They look very nice. Another thanks goes out to our Girl Scout (Daisies) troop for their donation of Girl Scout cookies to our Post Veterans and mailed packages to our troops overseas. On June 19th we will be hosting a presentation put on by Shari Haidvogl of Innovage. There will be a flyer in this newsletter describing this program. It's on a Tuesday night so come on by the Legion for Dinner and stay for the Presentation. At the June 12th meeting we will have Installation of Officers. As always keep our Service members in your thoughts and prayers and God Bless America. See you at the Post. Walt Lee, Commander AUXILIARY The patio screens are down, and the pots are planted with flowers that the Auxiliary donated money to. It s Summer time at the Legion. YAY! The Jewish festival is a celebration of the first buds, of the new harvest, to come. Jewish Men were required by law to go to Jerusalem three times a year; to celebrate the major feasts. Passover (spring), seven weeks and a day later, comes Pentecost, and in the fall harvest; Tabernacles. Christians celebrate Pentecost because, the twelve apostles received the in filling of the Holy Spirit, on this holiday; just as Jesus had promised.
