We all know that spring always stands for new beginnings and at Massapequa Lodge we have new Officers and Committee Chairman being appointed.

1 Be who you are and say what you feel because people who mind don't matter and people who matter don't mind. - Dr. Seuss Delany 12 Massapequa Elks Lodge #2162 March, 2012 EXALTED RULER S MESSAGE Although it was a mild winter, it s good to know that spring is just around the corner. We all know that spring always stands for new beginnings and at Massapequa Lodge we have new Officers and Committee Chairman being appointed. First, I want to Congratulate Charles Munsey on his election as Exalted Ruler wish him the very best in the year to come. I would also like to congratulate Richard Milhaven and Tom Harrington on their election of Leading Knight and Lodge Trustee. I know all the Officers and Committee People of Massapequa Lodge will do a fantastic job in the upcoming year. In the month of February, John Halleran ran a Great Mardi Gras Party at the Bar and everyone enjoyed the Naw lins Food, Music and Drinks. John was also our Elk of the Month because of the great job he did with the Chili Cook Off and Mardi Gras. Jim Duignan also ran a fantastic Super Bowl Party and it was even more enjoyable this year because the NY Giants won! On March 10, 2012 Danny (Danny Boy) McCann and his wife Joann McCann will be hosting our Annual St. Patrick s Day Party. Get your tickets early because this is one our best events of the Year. On March 31, 2012 please come down to our Installation of Officers and support the officers who have committed themselves to representing us in the upcoming year. This will probably be my last chance to thank all the Officers and Committee People and Members who helped us in the past year. All of you did a fantastic job and I m proud to say I was a part of it. The best way I can describe this year is to quote Charles Dickens ( It was the best of times, it was the worst of times ) I had a lot of fun working with everyone and met some new friends, but I also lost a few good friends like Frank Fortuna who will forever remain in our hearts. In ending my last article as Exalted Ruler I want remind everyone that there is no such thing as a Bad Elk and the faults of our members we write upon the sand, their virtues upon the tablets of love and memory. Now s the time for everyone of us to get behind them and support them for the good of the Lodge and of Elkdom as well. To the new officers, Congratulations are in order. Our new Elk year will begin on April 1st and I have the sad job of dropping the members listed in last months article for not paying their dues for the previous year. With that said we move on to the very obvious answer to the problem of loosing members. First we loose members because they feel unwelcome or left alone. This problem is easily solved. A sponsor is responsible to guide the new member though his or her time here at the Lodge by inviting them to partake of the many functions here at the Lodge as well as the opportunities to serve the lodge and meet the other members. A stuttering, some would say cute, pink pig utters those words at the end of the Warner Brothers cartoons to let everyone know it s The End. Well I don t normally stutter and I m not a pink pig and I m certainly not cute but I m saying That s All Folks. Another Elk year is over at the end of this month and if we don t get all of our donations into the Elks National Foundation by the 15th of the month we don t get credit for them in this year. How well did we do? Where do we stand in the District, State or the Nation? The answer to those questions is I don t know. It will take a full month to tabulate the numbers and get a final answer. However, no matter where we end up I have to say THANK YOU to each and every Elk who helped support The Elks National Foundation for the year. From Porky Pig, Buggs Bunny, Elmer Fudd, Daffy Duck, Willey Coyote, The Road Runner, Martin the Martian, Sylvester, Tweety Bird and the rest of the gang a Big THANK YOU for your donations goes out to all of the following: Richard Edelman, Steven Ekert, Richard Smith, Frank Delany, Anthony Sorrentino, John Halleran and George Macioce.
