1 Volume 3 - Number 7 April 4, 2012 OUR NEXT NEWSLETTER WILL BE PUBLISHED AND MAILED ON WEDNESDAY, APRIL 25TH ALONG WITH THE MAY ANNIVERSARY/BIRTHDAY LIST AND CALENDAR. PAR 3 SHOOTOUT FOR YOUTH MINISTRY We will hold our annual Par 3 Shootout for Missions on Saturday, May 12, at 10:00 AM at the Blue Ridge Golf Center on Highway 28. This year, all monies raised will go to help with Student Ministry Camps and other ministry projects summer projects. The cost is $25.00 per golfer, and our goal is to have 40 participants! There will be trophies awarded for first and second place, as well as great door prizes and a great lunch provided! Our youth and others will be securing Hole Sponsors of $100, $50, and $25 (Gold, Silver, and Bronze). If you would like to help by sponsoring a hole, please contact Ray or the church office. Thanks for your support of the Youth Ministry! FOOD BANK TRUCKS & DRIVERS NEEDED On occasion the Food Bank needs additional trucks and drivers who would be willing to go to various food stores for pick up of food ordered for the Food Bank. We are purchasing food items from stores who offer the items needed and the best possible prices. The stores included (but not limited to) are Dollar General, Hometown, Ingles and Wal-Mart. We continue to order items that are available from the Golden Harvest Food Bank which is picked up on the second Tuesday of each month in Liberty, SC. We have several men who volunteer already for this service. Due to gas prices and time schedules, we are attempting to share this duty with others who might be willing to serve in this capacity. Please call Gail Medlin at or the church office at if you would be willing to help with this project. Pastor Ken Reid

9 From Ken & Betsy. Words cannot express adequately the feelings of love and - Ken Reid, Pastor appreciation we have for your constant support and love. We want to say thank you for your thoughts, prayers and support for Britnie as she begins the next leg of her journey to Africa. For those who do not know, Britnie has finished her training at the International Learning Center of our International Mission Board in Richmond, VA. She was commissioned to her appointment by the Board on Friday, March 23 rd. We followed through as a church family to recognize that calling and commissioned her from CSBC on Sunday, March 25 th. Her appointment is a two-year Journeyman position that is usually filled by college graduates between the ages of 21 and 26. Britnie had to wait an extra two years to receive her assignment, thus she graduated from seminary too. Her partner in Africa is a young lady by the name of Sara. Britnie s immediate supervisor is Bonnie and her area supervisors are Bob and Susan. Last names will not be printed in public newsletters. Please continue to pray for all the team and others who may come and go over the next two years. The important work is to reach the children that make up 65% or more of the society. Bonnie said in an that Britnie will see poverty like she may never have seen before, but will also see joy in the eyes of the children in the midst of their dire circumstances. We all need to be reminded of our blessings. Britnie has just two short weeks to prepare, pack and say her goodbyes before she travels to South Africa to begin her work there. She leaves in the early hours of April 9 th. She still has another 40 days of training that all missionaries to Africa must attend once she arrives on the field. Thank you for your support and the gracious love offering to help her with purchases she needs and ministry in South Africa. Your generosity is overwhelming to all of us. We all appreciate the prayers for her safety and her success in fulfilling the Lord s calling in her life. As I challenged her on Sunday to be wise, be safe, be-have and be back in God s timing I also challenge us to be wise, be safe, be-have, and be in God s will for all things. You may follow her Journey by logging onto There you can register your address to receive her alerts, pictures and journey information. We have already been invited by Bonnie to come to South Africa. There is work there we can do. As Britnie gets settled into the work, we will be in communication with Bonnie about how we can work there if we choose to come. Tentatively, Betsy and I are planning to travel there next February or March to both minister and vacation. If you d like to consider going with us let me know and I ll keep you in the loop as the plans materialize. Dear College Street, God Bless CSBC and all our friends and family. Ken and Betsy Ken s Korner I am so overwhelmed by your generosity this past week! Thank you is hardly sufficient for the many ways you've blessed me - for your continual love, support, encouragement & most importantly prayer. I look forward to sharing in this upcoming journey with you over the next few years! Britnie Reid
