1 Volume 8 - Number 4 April 19, 2017 THE WEEKEND WARRIORS DEACON MINISTRY At our recent Deacons meeting the discussion turned toward helping our shut-ins and elderly. The love and compassion was so evident as the men discussed how we can be pro-active in reaching out and helping those we love so much. I was reminded that Home Partners began as an attempt to go into homes to do small repairs. As the years went by that effort began to expand and we have indeed done some really big projects along the way. In an effort to return to the roots of our Home Partnering, the Deacons and staff are implementing an effort for everyone to get involved in loving and showing compassion to others. First, if you have a need for small repairs, gutter cleaning, light bulbs being replaced, stopped up sinks, minor repairs, etc., you can call the church office with your request. Your deacon will be contacted to see if he is available to help meet the need. If they are not available, we will turn to staff and others to help meet the need. Second, if you know of someone that has one of these needs, but you think that they might not call the office, you can call for them. Third, if you are not currently serving as a deacon or just want to help, please call the church office to have your name added to the helper list. This is not something new but it is something that can impact our church and community. The Bible says in James 1:27 - Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world. I look forward to seeing how this ministry of love will grow and go in the days ahead. Pastor Ken Reid COMMUNITY PATRIOTIC SERVICE We will be sharing together as a community of believers in thanking and praising God for our country, the United States of America, in a very special time of worship on Sunday, July 2, time TBA. Our Adult Choir and orchestra members, along with Utica and Seneca Baptist Churches will form the bulk of the mass choir and orchestra. This is always a fantastic time of worship together with our sister churches. Don t miss it!!

6 This is an announcement regarding a trip September 26-29, 2017 to The Ark Encounter Tour Williamstown, KY! Ken s Korner - Ken Reid, Pastor After much consideration, we have decided that using a modern motor coach with their driver may be best for all concerned. We can travel the length of the trip in one day, have comfortable seats and an in-bus restroom. This would eliminate the need to stay 2 extra days on the road, coming and going using our church bus. Here are the details to consider: Cost (Total) not including other incidentals and food not listed: The trip includes the following: Quad (4 persons per room) - $504 per person Triple (3 persons per room) - $519 per person Double (2 persons per room) - $549 per person Single (1 person per room) - $728 per person Private Commercial Motor Coach with restroom facilities 3 nights accommodations 3 breakfasts 3 dinners (includes a Riverboat Dinner Cruise & a German Dinner with entertainment) Admission to the Ark Encounter Admission to the Creation Museum Guided tour of Cincinnati All taxes and gratuities included for meals and motel and tickets Help with luggage at the motel Your friendly bus driver not driving but moving freely around the bus to play games, eat your chocolate and have a wonderful time! White Star Tours are holding this date for us for about 2 weeks to give me time to see how many will want to go. These prices are based on 40 people, but we could open this up to other churches. I would hope that we would have at least 30. As always, you can pay a deposit of $50 per person to hold your seat and then make payments through the church office along the way. We can usually cancel without penalty up to 45 days in advance. WHAT I NEED ASAP! If you are interested, we need to make a list and begin to take the deposits. I will have to send $500 to hold the spot in about 2 weeks. You can let me know personally or call the church office. Checks are always made out to the church. It is not recommended that you just put the check in the offering plate since they can sometimes be placed in the regular offering by mistake. Thanks! Let me know as soon as possible. I will update everyone with the numbers that come in. A hand count of the Golden Fellowship last week indicated about 20 people already interested. Ken Reid
