We have planned, prayed, worked and celebrated the generosity of God s people and the mighty power of our God to bless his church. On May 20 th we came together for a great celebration of worship during which people brought their commitments to be dedicated to the Lord. Afterward we gathered for a wonderful meal and shared the good news that we received a total of $6o6,825 in commitments! If you did not have the opportunity to turn in your card, please bring it to the church office or turn it in next Sunday. There is not enough room in this article to personally list everyone who shared in the leadership of Breaking Free, but I want to express our appreciation to all of our campaign leaders, and to everyone who answered the call to make a commitment to help our church break free of debt. I hope and pray that this journey has brought us all closer to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Anytime we step out in faith we take a step closer to him. When your class/ group plans a meeting so it can be cleared and placed on the church calendar. 3. When your home/business phone number changes, so our records can be updated. 4. When you are planning to move; CHRISTIAN GROWTH PLAN DAILY: Spend 20 min. in Bible reading/ study & 10 minutes in prayer (time can be divided). WEEKLY Participate in worship & do some service applying Scripture lessons. MONTHLY: Get involved in a ministry and/or mission opportunity. QUARTERLY: Read /listen to a book to educate, inspire, motivate and challenge spiritual growth. ANNUALLY: Participate in a program/ special event/bible study/retreat or conference to further Christian growth. HELPING HANDS MINISTRY This ministry responds to EMSCC members need for temporary assistance: LIGHT CLEANING, MEALS, RIDES TO DR. APPTS, LAUNDRY, ETC. Call the church office ( ) to be a part of this special ministry, if you have questions, or need HELPING HANDS. MISSION MINISTRY UPDATE I am very grateful to all who participated with our church in the annual Morrisett Center Walk-a-thon on Saturday, May 19. (All funds donated help needy families in Elwood with utilities, rent and medical costs.) We had 14 walkers who raised a total of $1,881. Special thanks to Barb Abernathy and Kandi Courtney who organized the walk on behalf of the Elwood Ministerial Association. In June we will be focusing our efforts on raising support for the Tools of Hope ministry of Church World Service. Small things can make a big difference in the lives of those in third world countries who llive in poverty. Farm tools, blankets, or a well that can provide a whole village with safe, clean drinking water are all made possible through our support of Tools of Hope. Please give generously. Noah s Ark Preschool is now taking applications for their classes. 3 year-olds meet Tuesdays and Thursdays (8am-11am); 4 and 5 year-olds meet Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays (8am-11am). OUR LIBRARY Books/Videos If you have checked out books and videos from the book cart and are finished with them, we ask that you please return them so others can enjoy them, too. THANK YOU! RECYCLE! It not only saves landfill space and conserves energy, but recycling will insure a better future for us all. The Elwood Recycling Center, located at 1033 South H St., will accept the following on Mon (noon-5:00pm)tues, Wed, Thurs (10:00am-5:00pm) and Sat (8:00am to 1:00pm): NEWSPAPER: Newspaper and Newspaper inserts MAGAZINES, BOOKS & PAPER: Magazines, phone books, soft & hard-bound books, office paper, shredded paper, junk mail, envelopes, etc. CORRUGATED CARDBOARD: Corrugated cardboard only ALUMINUM: Aluminum beverage and food cans, pie plates, foil, etc. (must be empty and rinsed clean).
