2 On Easter Sunday, our congregation will take the significant action of launching a 36 month $400,000 capital campaign. This campaign will allow us to restore our organ and accelerate the repayment of our debt. Achieving success in this campaign will move us toward the ultimate goal of being debt free within six years. Once debt free, our congregation will be better able to meet future needs and to take advantage of future ministry opportunities. During the next five weeks as we move toward commitment Sunday on May 6, I ask that you prayerfully consider all of the blessings you have received from God and ask God to guide you as you consider your pledge to this campaign. I am asking you to give to our capital campaign while also maintaining your current giving to our church budget. In the coming weeks, you will receive more information about the Capital Campaign. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Reverend Michael Kendall or me, Wayne McWee.

3 Frequently Asked Questions about the Capital Campaign Fact Sheet Why are we having a capital funds campaign? In May 2015 we launched the first of a series of three campaigns to raise funds to support $1.25 million worth of capital repairs addressing multiple structural issues within the church building. These have been successfully addressed over the past three years. We are now following up with the second three-year campaign in the series. What is the time period for this part of the campaign? This part of the capital campaign will last for three (3) years. It will begin in May 2018 and continue to May What is our overall financial plan? Our plan is to be debt free in six (6) years to allow us the freedom and flexibility to take advantage of future needs and ministry opportunities. What is our financial goal for this campaign? The immediate goal for this capital campaign is to raise at least $400,000. We will need to spend approximately $100,000 to completely restore our pipe organ. The remaining funds will be dedicated to the reduction of the existing debt. What is our current mortgage, terms, etc.? We estimate that by May 1, 2018 our loan balance will be approximately $790,000. We are operating on a continuing line of credit until October 1, At that time, it will become a mortgage spread over a 20/30-year period, during which the interest rate can be adjusted every 5 years. We can and will be making additional principle payments beyond the monthly payment. Our goal is to reduce the total remaining debt by 50% during this three-year period and be debt free in six years. What about our regular annual stewardship campaign? The regular annual stewardship campaign must continue to provide programming that attracts new congregants and meets the needs of our current church family. Giving to the capital campaign cannot diminish our commitment to the regular stewardship campaign.

4 What are you asking me/my family to do? We are asking you and your family to prayerfully consider all of the blessings you have received from God and ask God to guide you as you consider your pledge to this campaign. God wants us to give with a joyful heart. He will bless every gift and giver. What are the various ways to give to the campaign? There are multiple ways you can give to this campaign, weekly, monthly, annually or lump sum donations. Gifts of stocks, other securities and gifting from a 401K may have special positive tax effects for the giver. If you have questions you can contact Cannon Watson, Finance Chair or Wayne McWee, Campaign Chair. Who is serving on the campaign steering committee? Members of the Campaign Steering Committee are: Reverend Michael Kendall; Wayne McWee, Chair; Donna Godfrey, Financial Liaison; Tracey Oddo, Administrative Liaison; Mike Montgomery; Chris Labosier; Jennifer Wall; Eva Philbeck; Josh Blakely; Reverend Burton Brooks, consultant. What are the important campaign dates? February 18 Steering Committee Consecration April 1 Easter Sunday Official Campaign Kick-off April 15 Cover Letter, Campaign Brochure, and Pledge Letter send to all families May 6 Commitment Sunday Pledges turned in morning service What is the name and theme of the campaign? Why was this name and theme chosen? The theme of this campaign is Restore, Renew, and Rejoice. Each word in this theme represents the major goals of the campaign. RESTORE represents our goal to restore the organ. RENEW was chosen because we will need to renew our commitment to the campaign. REJOICE reflects our joyful hearts when we are about God s work. Why are we rebuilding our pipe organ rather than replacing with an electronic organ? Our pipe organ is a spectacular musical instrument and is currently valued at over $600,000. Although $100,000 may seem high, the reality is that it is a very reasonable price for another half-century of service! We are blessed to have a high quality music program. Many of us believe that the organ combined with the sanctuary's acoustics and choir provide us with an amazing musical experience. The organ is an essential part of our music program. Should we replace our current organ with an electronic organ? Replacing the organ with an electronic organ is not just a simple matter of purchasing a cheap electronic keyboard and speakers. An equivalent electronic console with similar features is equally expensive and would require the purchase of multiple types of speakers which would be installed in various locations in the sanctuary to approximate the sound of the current pipes. An electronic organ can amplify the sound (make it louder) and imitate the sound, but it cannot create the blending of sounds that our current organ creates.
