Student Ministries Monday Friday, June Cost: $320 (deposit of $75 at time of registration) Register online by Wednesday, May 1 at bit.ly/middleschoolaustin2019 Middle school students will travel to Austin with Student Ministries to primarily serve the homeless population by partnering with local organizations, such as Community First! Village. Students will stay at First United Methodist Church of Austin while learning and exploring parts of the city, and growing in understanding and compassion for the homeless. Help at Christian Community Service Center (CCSC) Saturday, April 27 9 a.m. noon 3434 Branard Street Join us to organize and distribute food and clothing at CCSC Emergency Services. CCSC assists the poor, hungry, disabled and otherwise needy. They also provide job training and school vision screening. Be a Prayer Partner Please pray for our missioners and consider partnering with a missioner for upcoming mission trips. It is an active way to be involved and a blessing for both parties! Aging With Grace: Paying for Aging Monday, April :30 a.m. Aging comes with its own challenging fi nancial issues considering costs and income needs for everything from living arrangements to possible elder care. Individuals and families will learn how to defi ne their fi nancial goals and execute them, and we will present some of the considerations in paying for our golden years. Lunch and Learn: Medicine and Religion at the Bedside Wednesday, April 17 Noon 1 p.m. When medicine and religion meet at the bedside of critically ill patients, do they run parallel, intersect or crash with each other? How are the foundational issues of hope and healing appropriated by patients and their caregivers? This presentation will consider matters of religious coping, serious illness and end-of-life care using case examples integrating diverse issues. Trauma and Me Wednesday, April 24 6:30 8 p.m. This training uses brain-based research and images to help counselors and community leaders understand the impact of trauma on actions, emotions, physical well-being and cognitive abilities.
