1 March 2016 N E W S L E T T E R...I CAME THAT YOU MAY HAVE LIFE During the month of March we are walking through the gospel of John on Sunday mornings learning about who Jesus is and the relationship He wants to have with us. We d love to have you join us each Sunday morning at either 9:00am or 10:30am to worship with us. EASTER SUNDAY MARCH 27TH On Sunday, March 27th we are going to celebrate that the tomb was empty! Jesus kept His promise that after He was put to death on the cross, He would rise again three days later! Easter is an excellent opportunity to invite friends and family to join you for worship! Start having those conversations today. SUNRISE BAPTISM SERVICE Easter Sunday morning we will be having an 8:15am Sunrise Baptism Service at the church. This will be a special time to celebrate how the Lord is changing lives and making us new! If you are interested in being baptized, please contact one of the pastors. STORE FRONT UPDATE Over the past few months we ve been talking more and more about the dream the Lord has laid on our hearts for being more involved in the community by having a store front location in Fairmount where we can operate a coffee shop, provide various ministries, and be another service option for us. Our leadership and staff continue to pray and walk in faith as the Lord continues to open doors. We ask that you ll continue to be praying for the Lord s wisdom and provision as well. A design is being put together as well as a budget for the remodeling. Ministry pieces are also being developed. Be watching the bulletin for information regarding another Fireside Chat that will be taking place at the proposed building later this month. SPRING FORWARD Don t forget to set your clocks ahead an hour before you go to bed Saturday, March 12th. CROSSROADS DISTRICT On Saturday, February 20th, a historical vote took place with the Indiana North and Indiana Central Districts of the Wesleyan Church. A vote was taken and passed with a large percentage to merge these two districts into one district. The new district will be called the Crossroads District and will cover the northern portion of the state from just south of Indianapolis to the Michigan border. On June 25th this summer a new District Superintendent will be elected and the new district will begin. ALL CHURCH PRAYER RETREAT On Saturday, March 12th, 9:00am - 3:00pm you are invited to join together at the church to participate in Fairmount Wesleyan s next Prayer Retreat. Come for the day or for a few hours. Come and pray for the ministries of the church, pray for the community, and pray for personal needs that lay heavy on your heart. A light breakfast and lunch will be provided. CLAIM OUR CITY EASTER OUTREACH Fairmount Wesleyan Church once again wants to show God s love in a practical way this coming Easter. This year we are joining forces with the Friends Church and Methodist Church in town to make an impact in this community through a combined Easter Egg Hunt. The egg hunt will be on Saturday, March 26th beginning at 11:00am at the Play Acres Park. Plastic Easter eggs, individually wrapped candy, and financial donations are needed for this event. Your donations need to be turned into the church office by Sunday, March 20th.

2 STUFFING EASTER EGGS We re having a party to stuff thousands of Easter Eggs with candy on Wednesday, March 23rd at 6:00pm at the Fairmount Methodist Church. Bring the family and let s have fun with our sister churches in town to share the message of Jesus Christ! PRAYER SPOTLIGHT Here are a few ways to pray when you re busy: Pray in the shower in the car a promise from the Word when you re walking on Twitter because you ve scheduled the time while shopping when talking to someone in person. The Bible tells us to pray continually (1 Thes. 5:17). If you find yourself too busy to stop and pray, you re too busy (Matt. 26:40). PRAYER WARRIORS NEEDED Wednesdays 6:30pm - 7:30pm you are invited to come and pray for our church, our congregation, and our community. This prayer group meets in room 205. Let us together bring our needs to the Lord and seek His wisdom and guidance! If you have any questions or needs you d like prayed for, please talk with Amy Luedtke ( ). (Prayer meeting will dismiss for the summer beginning May 4th.) ONLINE GIVING For your convenience, we offer online giving through our website fairmountwesleyan.com. WELCOME CENTER If you are looking for information on small groups, Bible studies, Sunday school classes, sign ups, or specific ministries, we invite you to visit the Welcome Center. If you don t see the information you are looking for, please ask the Welcome Desk worker and we ll get the information you need. CHURCH MEMBERSHIP Are you ready to move from being a fan of the church to being apart of the team? If so, please consider becoming a member of the church. A membership class has been scheduled for Wednesday, April 6th & 13th from 6:30pm-7:30pm at the church. During this two-week class you ll learn about the history of the Wesleyan Church, what we believe, what is expected as a church member, and much more. If you are planning to attend these classes, please notify the church office or sign up at the Welcome Desk.

3 MISSING As you look around on Sunday mornings, do you notice people missing? If so, would you be willing to reach out to them and let them know they are missed as well as invite them to join you for service, classes, or small group! In order for us to stay connected with each other, we all have to be involved! SMALL GROUPS Our Small Groups are a great place to get connected to others at Fairmount Wesleyan. We often read in the Bible about the importance of loving one another, caring for one another, confessing to one another, and praying for one another; this is exactly what we are going to do in Small Groups. We encourage each of you to find a Small Group that you can get connected to for the sole purpose of fellowship and relationship! More information for small groups is available in the Welcome Center. Small Groups will not meet March 20th & 27th for Spring Break and Easter. SUNDAY SCHOOL A new round of Sunday school classes begin March 6th. If you haven't joined a class, now is the perfect time! Our Sunday school classes run 13 weeks and are a great way to dig deeper into the Word and learn more about what it means to live out our Christian faith. Information for each class is available in the Welcome Center, but here are the subjects being covered: 9:00am 1, 2 Peter & Jude in Room 205 led by Ethel Haisley What's So Amazing About Grace in Room 403 led by Pastor Jeffery 10:30am Revelation in Room 205 led by John Stark Sacred Marriage in Room 401 led by Amy Luedtke Prayer and the Holy Spirit in Room 403 led by Julie Tyree SUNDAY SCHOOL TEACHERS If you've recently served as a Sunday school teacher or would like to teach a Sunday school class in the future, we are having a meeting March 10th from 6:30pm - 7:30pm. This will be a meeting with Pastor Jeffery to discuss planning, curriculum ideas, and expectations for teachers. CLUB 56 Students in 5th and 6th grade are invited to join Club 56! A ministry designed with you in mind. Club 56 meets for Sunday School class at 10:30am in room 106 and Club Time Sunday evenings from 6:30pm-8:00pm in the church s fellowship hall. Invite your friend and be a part of Club 56! BREAKING NEWS! Our newsletter is a great way to get an overview of the upcoming months activities. KIDS LIFE VOLUNTEER MEETING On Sunday, March 13, right after church in the fellowship hall, there will be the rescheduled Kids Life volunteer meeting. We will be exploring the new mission statement and core values while discussing new ideas. Lunch will be served.

4 COLLEGIAN SMALL GROUP We d like to invite our collegians to join together on Thursday evenings from 6:30pm-8:00pm for a home cooked meal, bible study, games, friends, & more. The gathering takes place at the home of Neil & Velvet Haisley, 1457 W 800 S, Fairmount. This group will not be meeting over IWU s Spring Break. FINDING A PLACE TO SERVE Have you found your place to serve at Fairmount Wesleyan? If not, please take time to talk with one of the pastors and allow us to help you use your giftedness and skills for the building of the Kingdom! To help you in fulfilling what God is calling you to, we have provided Ministry Position Descriptions so you can know which positions best fit with your gifts. These booklets clarify the commitment we are asking you to make when you sign up. If you have not picked yours up, they are available in the church office. OUTREACH ORANGE T-SHIRT Have you purchased your Outreach Orange T-Shirt yet? It s a great way to represent Fairmount Wesleyan Church when our church does outreach events, service projects, and community functions! Purchase your shirt from the church office for $7.00. WELCOMING GUESTS We have a lot of guests visit us here at Fairmount Wesleyan. With each new person that comes God entrusts us to share his love with them that they might come to know his Son. When we talk about Fairmount Wesleyan we often think of the building or the institution, but really each person here makes up Fairmount Wesleyan. As a staff we want to do better at welcoming our guests and are asking you to join us. As a staff we follow up with our guests who fill out a Connect Card. We've also created a welcome booklet so our guests can learn a little more about us. Finally, and most importantly, you'll notice we are walking around the sanctuary trying to meet all of our guests on Sunday mornings and this is where we need your help. We never seem to be able to meet all of our guests, but this is your home too! If you see someone near you that you don't recognize, introduce yourself. If they are new let them know they can take a Connect Card to the Welcome Desk to receive a welcome booklet with a free gift inside. If they aren't new, that's alright too, maybe you've just met a new friend. Just as we want to steward our finances and time in a Godly way, we want to be good hosts to the guests God brings us. Will you join us in helping people find their way into the Kingdom?

5 KIDS LIFE MARCH 2016 What s coming up? MISSION STATEMENT: Our mission is to provide a fun and safe environment for each child and family to learn Biblical truth, accept Jesus and be equipped to love others. New Mission Statement, say what? The Bible states, It has given me great joy to find some of your children walking in the truth, just as the Father commanded us. 2 John 1:4 (NIV) Here at Fairmount Wesleyan Church, we are committed to helping children learn how to walk in the truth just as 2 John states. We have come up with five core values that will be our focus points on just how to accomplish our mission. Kids Life s new five core values: 1. Environment 2. Teaching 3. Family Ministry 4. Salvation 5. Fruit of the Spirit Each month we will dive more into each core value. A town built on a hill Upcoming Events Mar Guys & Girls night Apr Fusion Apr Youth Fundraiser May Never 2 Young Jun Jr. High Camp Jun Senior High Camp District All-Nighter - We went to the yearly District All-Nighter again this February and had a ball. Literally, we had a ball - we went bowling! Along with bowling we also jumped around at Skyzone, went swimming at the YMCA, and played laser tag all in one fun filled night. It was a great night to hang out with fellow teens from the district and get to know each other better. Upcoming Youth Events Guys & Girls Night - Instead of splitting up guys and girls, we are going to do an event together this year. We will be traveling to Indy to play indoor black light mini golf. They also have a laser maze where you can pretend to be on mission impossible and make your way through lasers to the other side. We will be leaving Saturday March 12th at 1:00pm and arriving back at the church at 7:00pm. It is $7 for mini golf and $3 to go through the laser maze. We will be stopping for dinner on the way home so you will need around $10 for the meal. If you have any questions talk with Pastor Marty. Fusion - Fusion is a senior high youth conference that is dedicated to helping students grow closer to God. This year the speaker is Antwaan Randle El who was an all American in football at IU and also won a super bowl for the Pittsburgh Steelers. The concert on Friday night will be performed by NEEDTOBREATHE. Fusion is a two event which is held on Friday, April 1 and 2. The cost is $55 per student for the whole weekend. We will not be staying on campus but will commute back and forth from our homes. The registration deadline for this event is Sunday morning March 20th. Ask Pastor Marty for a registration or you can find one on the information wall in the welcome center. Youth Fundraiser - On April 30th the youth group will be having a tenderloin fundraiser dinner. It will be held at the Fairmount campgrounds and will be $10 a ticket for an adult and $5 for a child 11 years old and under. More details for the event is to come.
