A letter from our President, Diana Clayton Dear Shasta Miners and Prospectors: It is with great sadness to learn of the untimely deaths of two of our long time members, Kenneth Dehay and Jim Hosier. They will be remembered and may they rest in peace. Diana Clayton I am looking forward to the outing at Cowboy Dan s place on Sept. 19. Dan will present a history and show us some of his findings on his property at the Sept. 17 general meeting. Dan has about 102 acres, with interesting history. The location is not very far from Dry Creek Station. Plans are underway for the Christmas Party, with great raffle prizes which will be announced at the meeting. The picnic was awesome. Thank you you all for making it a fun day. IN MEMORY OF Jim Hosier and Kenneth DeHay Please Accept Our deepest Sympathy With heartfelt condolences and kindest thoughts in your time of sadness/ sorrow. Friends come into our lives and friends leave our lives. But friends never leave our hearts. And best friends always get to stay in the best places in our hearts. John M. Simmons, The Marvelous Journey Home Jim and Kenneth will always be remembered, may they rest in blissful peace. SMPA Logo Clothing Chairperson, Mary Ann Stevens stvnsjms@sbcglobal.net Ph.: (530) We have nice hoodies, t-shirts, tank tops, hats, and iron-on emblems. These items are on display and are for purchase at each general meeting.

3 Shasta Miners and Prospectors Association (SMPA) September 2015 Pg. 3 DONNA DAVIS V. PRESIDENT AND MEMBERSHIP CHAIRPERSON Hello fellow miners Hope everyone that attended the annual SMPA picnic enjoyed themselves and had a GREAT time. I know that my grandson had a lot of fun and really enjoyed the day. Remember that there is an outing scheduled on September 19 th (see save the date for more information). Sounds like fun. Just a few notes I know that alot of you remember Hi and Dorothy Pippin, well Dorothy called me a few days ago and stated that Hi had fallen again and broke his right hip. I want to wish him a belated 90 th birthday and a speedy recovery. I miss you Hi. I send my well wishes to all who are sick or recuperating too. We are working on our annual Christmas packet hope to be mailing first part of October. I m not telling what the prizes are just yet, but they are going to be wonderful be sure and watch for it. I hope to see everyone at the upcoming September 17 th meeting. Donna Davis ( ) djd_1963_2006@yahoo.com Guided Metal Detector Outings: Guided metal detecting outing usually occur on the Second Sat. morning after our regular scheduled meeting. The location of the hunt is announced at the general meeting. If you are unable to attend the meeting please contact Bill Doyle, Metal Detecting Chair. doylewt@aol.com or call (530) August Metal Detector Outing The August Outing at the Annual Picnic was a success with approximately twenty participating in the Metal Detecting Event. A special thanks to those dedicated persons that planned and coordinated the picnic and to Howard Waldron for his donation of several gold plated dollar coins that were hidden in addition to the seventy five dollars in change planted for the metal detecting event. The September outing will be held on September 19 th at the Dan Collier property in conjunction with the guided Claim Outing. Doug Mueller and I went detecting for the Hidden Coin and were not successful in locating it; however, those of you that go detecting for the coin may want to detect the area behind the Bush on the bench near the Anderson Cottonwood Irrigation District Diversion Dam and Fish Ladder. Until next month, good luck and good hunting,

Kenny and Larry sure know how to cook. My hats off to you guys. At the beginning of the detector hunt I found a little girl's ring. It's my 4th ring to date.
