A letter from our President, Diana Clayton Dear Shasta Miners and Prospectors I sure look forward to seeing everyone at the Christmas Party this year. It is such a fun event. As many of you know I have stepped down as President after 7 years of holding this Diana Clayton position. It has truly been an honor to lead. SMPA s membership is growing, we have added new claims over this time, fought battles, cried laughed. We have lost members, may they rest in peace. I know that Cindy Russell, our new President for 2018 will do a great job. The officers, chairs and others, I am certain will give her the same wonderful support that they have given me and that the teamwork continues on, which I know it will. I can truly say that this is one of the most satisfying experience because the people are wonderful. Thank you for the opportunity to be your President for the last 7 years. I plan to stay involved and will hopefully be able to do more metal detecting. Congratulations to Phyllis and Larry. The Miner of the Year award is truly earned. Congratulations to all the new officers and board members. President Vice-President Secretary Treasurer OFFICERS 2018 Board of Directors 2018 Bob Burdett, Cassie Zucco, Dick Kingsmore Jim Stevens Cindy Russell Bill Woody Woodward Susan Doyle Wayne King See you at the party and Merry Christmas to all.

6 Shasta Miners and Prospectors Association (SMPA) December 2017 Pg. 6 Merry Christmas! Hope to see you all at the SMPA Christmas Dinner December 21st. Donna Davis ( ) d j d _ y a h o o. com GUIDED METAL DETECTING OUTINGS: Usually occur on the Second Saturday morning after the regular scheduled meeting. The location of the hunt is announced the general meeting. If you are unable to attend the meeting please contact Bill Doyle, Metal Detecting Chair. Bill Doyle doylewt@aol.com or call (530) at November Metal Detecting Outing Six persons attended the Outing at Grant School, Howard Waldron, Tom Kibat, Maurice Huff, Dave Pettyjohn, Lorin Fleming, and me. The find of the day went to Lorin Fleming for his recovery of what appeared to be a gold clad penny. Although the coin had the appearance of a Lincoln head penny, it detected as a dime on two different detectors and weighed more than a standard penny. Lorin will check out the coin and determine its origin. I hope to see you all at the Christmas Party and wish you luck and successful hunting in the next year. Bill Mike Abernathy Guided Claims Outings: Guided Claims outings are scheduled the first Sat. following the general meeting. For more information contact Michael Abernathy, Claims Chair. Ucnokiss@yahoo.com Hello Fellow Miners, I trust you had a great time at the outing and found lots of gold! I look forward to seeing you at the next adventure! Until then have a great holiday and I'll see you next year or at the christmas party. Merry Christmas to and to all a good night...michael Abernathy Claim's Chairman Hey, be safe out there!
