5 TODAY S LOOSE OFFERING: Local Church Budget Tax time! Through the years, the government has discussed whether to continue the deduction for charitable gifts. The day may come when this is no longer allowed. Questions in the minds of churches and other non-profits are, How much would this affect their revenue? and, How much is this tax break an incentive in people s giving? Many other countries don t have this benefit and people are nevertheless faithful in their tithes and offerings. Let us enjoy the deduction while we have it, but continue to be faithful regardless. Stewardship Spotlight: Please contribute to the local annual sacrifice fund. Your resources are needed for insurance payments, property taxes, Union loan, and church school subsidy. Thank you. The treasurers and counters kindly request that members place tithe & offering in a tithe envelope and remember to put your NAME on it and DESIGNATE where you would like your funds to go and place it in the offering plate. Fellowship Dinner: There is no potluck after church today due to the Mendinghall Better Living Center being set up for tonight s Gala. Please bring a dish to share next week in the fellowship. Thank you th Anniversary Homecoming Weekend: Keep the date of August 29-31in mind as you make your calendar plans for the year. This is when we ll celebrate the completion of Fresno Westside s current church site. 4. Verified Volunteers: All adults who act as teachers, youth or children s leaders, assistants, and chaperones are required to complete a verified volunteers background check at This must be renewed every 3 years and updated in the local church files. 5. Demonstrate Love! Starting in April, on the fourth Sabbath of each month, we ll have some kind of special community outreach to touch our neighbors. Please think of new ideas to help us build a relationship with our community and share the love of Christ with others. 6. Ministries Council Meeting is tomorrow, April 7 th, at 4:30 pm. All department leaders are requested to attend. 7. A Church Board Meeting will be held next Sunday, April 14 th, at 4:30 pm and a business meeting on Sunday, April 28 th. 8. Discover Bible Study Guides: In collaboration with Voice of Prophecy, Christian Record Services for the Blind has new studies available in large print and braille for people who are legally blind. Bring your favorite CDs or smartphones with video apps, and join the fun! 12. Pathfinder & Adventurer Fundraiser Gala is this evening at 6:00. Please see Isaac Evans or Ava Dickerson for further information and for tickets which are $15 for adults (17+) and $5 for children (4-16). We are raising monies to go to the Camporee in Oshkosh, WI this August. 13. Children s Choir Rehearsal: All children up thru the age of 12 are encouraged to come and sing on Friday evenings from 6:00-7:00. We are preparing for the Easter musical service on April 20 th. 14. Small Group Bible Study: Join us Thursday evenings at 7:00 in the Blue Room in the Mendinghall Better Living Center for a study on the book of John. 15. FAA Constituency Meeting is postponed until Sunday, May 19 th at 10 am. 16. Spring Open House & Food Sale: at the ABC on April 14 th from 10 am-5 pm. There ll be great discounts on books and other items, as well as food by the case in the warehouse. Free lunch also served from 11 am-2 pm. 17. 8 HEALTH NUGGET We are a sedentary nation of couch potatoes addicted to computer games, TV, and spectator sports. We need exercise! Children who once were off the charts in exercise demand, now sit; and way too many are overweight or obese. This makes them prone to adult type 2 diabetes, with its dire complications. Walking is the ideal exercise. Other good activities include swimming, cycling, gardening, and yard work. One of the special benefits of exercising outside is that you combine at least three health principles: sunlight, fresh air, and exercise. A daily program of at least minutes is best for maximum benefit. The important thing is that you enjoy what you do and do it regularly. Trader Joe s Vegetable Masala Burgers; 2 pkgs. Trader Joe s Chicken-less Strips; 1/2 large onion, chopped; 1 jar Trader Joe s Curry Simmer Sauce; 15-oz. can garbanzo beans, rinsed & drained; 2 tbsp. Trader Joe s Corn and Chili Tomato-less Salsa; 1 pkg. Trader Joe s Middle Eastern Flatbread; 1 cup cooked brown rice; oil Directions: Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Toss yams with a bit of olive oil and place on non-stick pan and bake 33 minutes. Cook Vegetable Masala Burgers and set aside. Chop Chicken-less Strips and saute with onion in a little oil and 2 tbsp. Curry Simmer Sauce. When pieces are a little crispy, add garbanzo beans and cook 2 minutes adding a little more Simmer Sauce. Transfer to large bowl. Add chunked Vegetable Masala Burgers to chick n/ garbanzo mixture. Add yams and mix to combine. Stir in the Corn and Chili Salsa. Spread mixture on heated flatbread, or serve over rice. Top with more Curry Simmer Sauce as desired.

12 23. Marriage and the Family Marriage was divinely established in Eden and affirmed by Jesus to be a lifelong union between a man and a woman in loving companionship. For the Christian a marriage commitment is to God as well as the spouse, and should be entered into only between partners who share a common faith. Mutual love, honor, respect, and responsibility are the fabric of this relationship, which is to reflect the love, sanctity, closeness, and permanence of the relationship between Christ and His church. Regarding divorce, Jesus taught that the person who divorces a spouse, except for fornication, and marries another, commits adultery. Although some family relationships may fall short of the ideal, marriage partners who fully commit themselves to each other in Christ may achieve loving unity through the guidance of the Spirit and the nurture of the church. God blesses the family and intends that its members shall assist each other toward complete maturity. Parents are to bring up their children to love and obey the Lord. By their example and their words they are to teach them that Christ is a loving disciplinarian, ever tender and caring, who wants them to become members of His body, the family of God. Increasing family closeness is one of the earmarks of the final gospel message.
